What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I'm curious about this as well because I have never heard any mention about the prerunner rear end being any different than the 4x4.

Well from what my guy told me from ARB, 4x4 tacomas have straight shackles and prerunner have a more V shape shackles with stationary bolts welded on.

No idea man, just going off of what was said. Either way, it all worked out and I’m very please with the guy’s work and service.

 

Nothing wrong with that at all man! I just wanted to either A) learn something new or B) make sure that incorrect information wasn't being spread. Didn't want to come off as harsh. FWIW I did some more searching and couldn't find any other mention of them being different between prerunner and 4x4. @christian06

 

Possibly the 5 lug i had prerunner and 4x4 shackles and hangers in the shop and they were the same.

I'm quite aware they are different.

 

I absolutely do not trust these. I went to put mine in and all they did was keep compressing, not let the bolts get tight, and my bolts loosened up after 3 minutes, as long as it took me to put my passenger side on. I will never use these, they are a major safety issue. I might go buy a bunch of washers to use in place of the cheap plastic "spacer" though. Not meant to disrespect the maker of the product, it was a great idea, just very poor execution. And I value my safety more than my comfort, so I like tightened seat bolts.

 

Tell him its maternity leave. Not necessarily you, but females are entitled to it so it would be discrimination not to give it to you. Wouldn't it ? Just saying its worth a shot.

 

I mean, I have 3 weeks vacation a year... It's just that most people don't cash it all in at once. He seems pretty cool about travel stuff. He'd probably wanna come...

My wife requested running board so she can more easily climb into my “new” taco.

I compromised and added hook style nerf bars I paid $100.00 to a kid who just pulled them off a new 2017 Tacoma

 

Just posted in this thread a couple hours ago, but I just did a few more things lol.

Oil change, rotation, and replaced a small transmission line before it began to leak.

This was the new vs old line


Also a little trick if anyone wants to replace theirs...to avoid losing a lot of fluid, plug the soft lines with a valve stem. Just make sure not to twist much when taking it back out. Easy to do overall though.
