Ah ha! Yeah I got the same mount from shapeways and was disappointed when it didn't fit. I guess I'll have to go the epoxy route.

Maybe someone could design an updated Gopro mount for the V1LG. If only...

The part that sucks about the GoPro mount in the 2018 is that the left view is obstructed by the TSS camera housing :annoyed:

I'm getting the OEM Toyota dashcam installed prior to picking up the truck. I'll let you guys know how it is.

Please do! I didn't even know that was an option. Looking forward to hearing more about it.

IIRC, the "OEM" one is just a Street Guardian with a Toyota sticker...and the price to match.

The plan is to put another one in the rear of the Tacoma, but haven't done it yet...

I bought two Rexing dash cams last summer for my wife and I and they both were sporadically failing to start when the vehicle turned on. So I returned them and left an appropriate review on Amazon. The company contacted me saying it may have been a firmware issue and asked if they could send me another one that I could keep for free.

It has worked ok but every once in a while during the winter it failed to turn on. It's worked fine during the summer.

I like their form factor but I'm put off by their unreliability. I want to get one I can install and not have to think about it unless I need the footage from it.

I too had issues with Rexing. I ended up going with a Roav C1 Pro (mostly because Anker is the backing company) and it's been flawless so far. Hides nicely behind the left side of the mirror.

Yeah I've been debating about getting a second for the rear but the front was a priority. It's generally less necessary to prove something happened behind you but that's not to say it'll never happen.

If/when I do a cap, I'll probably end up with a rearview camera to replace my mirror and maybe I can do something with that for recording the back end.

just a note, if you have a dashcam that will be mounted full time, its better to go with a capacitor than a battery. reason being is that the heat sitting in the sun have cause the batteries to bulge and/or catch fire due to heat stress.

edit: forgot to add, I use vicovation dashcams, looking to replace my old one with a new opia2

I have a VIOFO A119S. Can't speak for heat tolerance since I am in Maine but it has good cold tolerance. It's a cheaper option for those who dont want to spend a lot of money up front. Decently wide angle. I had to mount it to the right of the TSS and it still picks up everything to the left of the drivers side fender. Make sure you get a surveillance grade SD card for any dash cam you use.

I have the Blackvue 650 in both mine and may wife's cars. It really came in handy when someone crossed the double yellow line and smacked her mirror on our brand new 4Runner 2 weeks ago. The Blackvue is the only one I recommend to my customers.

I’ve got a Vantrue N2 dual cam. Front and rear facing. Didn’t hardwire, ran the power around the windshield, down door frame and tucked under the glove box. Works very well and good camera quality. Like the fact it picks up inside the cab. Doesn’t get any images beyond the rear window.
