If that is the case, why aren't they still offering the unlimited plan for those new customers that want it.

I have been with Verizon for a long time, and would never leave. I have a Blackberry, but mostly just use it as a phone with some texting and email. I never drop calls or have coverage problems. Their customer service does suck, though. Thankfully, don't have to call them that often.

I was hoping that VZ would get the iphone. I would never switch to ATT just for a specific phone. The phone is only as good as the network.

I'm ok with the new data plans, they lower the bill for most customers. However, the people who are really getting screwed are the ones that want to tether. Extra $$ without any extra data. That's pretty messed up, ATT.

Luckily, I have no desire to tether, so I will be getting the new iPhone and grandfather in the unlimited plan I have now. I'll watch how much I use it over the next few months, then probably downgrade to one of the cheaper plans based on my usage.

I have never called ATT for customer assistance.
when I was with Verizon I would swing by a corporate store and in minutes any issue I had with the phone was handled without issue.
You want some outstanding customer service Charter Cable will get your blood boiling.

On a good note if you have unlimited associated with a number, as long as you don't change it you keep it, even if you upgrade to the new phone

I have the 3g w the 30 dollar unlimited package. The tethering thing can be fixed... for free. Jailbreak, download PDAnet app off Cydia. Created an ad-hoc connection on your computer. Connect thru PDAnet. You are now tethered

People are saying that AT&T is doing this because a new iPhone will be announced on Monday on the Verizon network.

So AT&T is trying to get people to get renew their contract or go out and get a iPhone/iPad this week before the June 7th announcement.

I hate AT&T with a passion. I pay them $115 every month for the shitty service only cause I love my iPhone! I called them cause of their shitty reception I get at my house and really just about every else and they wanna cell me a micrcell tower to use at my house for $155. If anybody knows how to unlock an iPhone, use it on the sprint network, and can prove it to me I'll give you $100 to do it to mine!

I think this is all pretty reasonable if you ask me. 80% of people don't go over 2gb of useage per month as surveyed my AT&T (if I remember correctly), and the current model for unlimited useage is unsustainable as more and more people cross over to using smart phones.

renew? no. If you already have the unlimited data plan, there's no need to rush out. You can keep it even if you upgrade.

Verizon is dicking me around about a late bill right now.
Thinking about booting them, but every company is scumbaging people.

Which is kinda crazy. Study after study has shown that it's much less expensive to retain customers than attract new ones... But some companies just don't get it.
