Hey fellas, I'm hoping to find someone that blacked out their badges on their magnetic grey ride. I debadged all but the "TACOMA" on the tail gate and am wondering how it may look black to match the moto metal 957's that I will be adding soon. Any pics would be a big help! Thanks guys/gals!

Looks like the front door and fender are lighter than the back door and bed. :(

Yeah it does look a little odd, but that's the thing with metallic colours, it all depends on how the light hits it.

Yeah I love that color but my sales guy kept insisting that the off-road didn't come with that color - I knew he was full of crap then!

Sorry, no true closeups...I think the black on magnetic gray looks sharp...but of course I'm biased...I was just going to debadge and then I painted them and put them against the truck and I was sold...

I want to know where the evil monkey sticker is from? But the black badges do look good, wish the factory would do them.

Bored daughter drew it on the computer one night when I was ignoring her and playing with an iPad---thus iDad....I laughed, sent it to Sockmonkey and he made me a window sticker...Don't think it's a monkey, but now that you mention it, it does look like one...:)

The factory does do them. X-runners come with color keyed badges. Just order the badges for a Black Sand Pearl X-runner. Whats great is that they come with adhesive on them already. Another TW member gave me a set of badges for my Birthday recently. Thanks Albert! Just to let you know though, they arent cheap. The "Tacoma" badge retails for about $36 each, unless you have a hookup. Check out my build for the photos.

There's a good thread on the site about how to do it...but in short I used three products to get mine painted.

    1. An adhesion promoter---kind of a primer for plastic (had to buy it off of Amazon cause my local paint/hardware stores didn't carry it)
    2. Spray paint--did three light coats about 5 minutes apart
    3. Clear coat--Sealed it with this, again three light coats about 5-10 minutes apart.

Then I got some narrow 3M tape and cut it down to fit on the back of the badges and stuck them up...I thought this would be a real pain but to be honest it wasn't that bad.

To get the badges off the truck I just used fishing line to run behind them....To soften the adhesive holding them on I lightly heated them with my heat gun but a hair dryer or a hot sunny day probably would work too.
