I don't know if I feel better or worse seeing all those other pictures. Sucks, I'm pretty discouraged since they already attempted a fix once also. I think this will be an issue for the life of the truck

That’s a good thought but mine was special ordered and I had to wait a month or so for it. Also the passenger side looks beautiful, no rust at all and those staples are nice and shiny.

My second generation is showing some rust after 5 years specially in the interior part of the rear bumper Im in MA (new england weather) rain, humidity, snow and salt is starting to take a toll on my truck what I do and has help is once a month I spry a mixture of motor oil (old) with gasoline on the entire bottom and does hard to reach areas it takes me 15 to 20 minutes to do it right. Eventually the build up help repell water and encapsulate the rust. When i drive on raining days I take a look down there I can see water bubbles sliding you know when put oil on a surface water will not stick. NICE

I've got a Black 2016 dual cab and I have rust in the same exact place on mine. I bet if most guys who live in the rust belt actually checked that location they would have the same issue. I had a red 2013 and It did not do this.

Not sure if it's a written rule, but I've seen plenty of members and moderators "enforcing" this rule/etiquette. See example below:

@MTgirl is this a written rule?

Every time you see rust, take it back to the dealer. If you have enough cases it may be grounds to extend your corrosion warranty in the future.

    ...stuff
People on here that are close by could “help” you get your truck off of the trail back to the road or back to a safe place because we are a community. Tow trucks, recovery vehicles, etc... can charge you thousands of dollars to do the same thing that many of us would do for free.

The “HELP” indicates an urgent need for assistance in a time sensitive manner, to avoid paying those high recovery costs.

A half inch of rust on your door jam is not time sensitive. OP: Sand it down, get rid of the rust, spray with WD40, wipe clean, use alcohol, wipe clean, paint it with touch up paint, put the door sill protector back on. Nobody will ever know and your car fax won’t show anything.

Sometimes help doesn't even have to be close, to help.- https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/another-spindle-failure-backcountry-dv.473931/

It's unwise to underestimate the reach of Tacomaworld.

To all who are arguing that he shouldn’t have used the word “help” in his title because it should be reserved for those who are reaching out to members of an online message board for urgent need of assistance, please read the first five words of the title directly proceeding the word “help”.

    Also, OP, its door “jamb”.

Jam is a delicious fruit spread.

    The more you know.

Well this thread went to shit real quick didn't it..

As far as the little rust spots.. I'm not big into body work, but I'd would think the only way to really get that cured is to pull everything like the carpet, wiring and plastic out. Then sandblast it all down and repaint it really well. But that sounds like a huge pita. Guess it's up to you really how far you want to run this thing down. Like another member above said, you could pull the carpet back yourself and see whats going on under there.

    Starting over.......
I had rust in the same spot on my 2017 blazing blue Tacoma. The dealership took it into the bodyshop, removed weather stripping fixed the area. The put new weather stripping and sill sticker on. Clean job.

What else are they supposed to do???? Rust is like cancer in the human body. You cut away all damaged tissue and sew the body back together. No different with steel. The red cancer has got to go. New steel and repaint.

Unfortunately yes, it will likely be a repeating and consistent issue for the life of the truck. The red cancer is a bitch once it gets a toe hold.
