had this done to my 2018 Taco today. it truly is like a whole new truck. no more hesitation, dead spot or funky shifting tranny. it also feels like the truck has more power now. so I am happy I saw all you guys posts about this. thanks to y'all!

 

What year is your truck? I'm about to take my 18 for the first service appt and I'm going to have them apply the tsb. I'm wondering if I'll notice as much of an improvement as you seem to have noticed

I will say, you have to be careful how you word your complaint. my service writer actually tried to tell me it didn't apply to my vehicle because we didn't live in higher elevations. I calmly explained to him that we frequent higher elevations to ride/race mountain bikes and that it did in fact apply to my vehicle. and I also explained to him that even if it didn't, Toyota issued the TSB because they were aware of the problem, and that his mechanics get paid to do what Toyota says. He called me about 15 mins later to let me know they did in fact do the reprogram. so, depending on your dealer they may try to get out of doing it at first. it honestly shouldn't even be a TSB, it should be a factory recall.

 

haha, yeah its an 18 with 5790 miles on it. it honestly is night and day difference. when you crack the throttle now it just goes. I had to get on the gas pretty hard to leave the dealership due to oncoming traffic and it spun my Terra Grapplers pretty well until I let off the gas to get them to grip.

 

I don't care who you are....That's funny!

 

So 2018 can have this done? What state you in Jimmy? Think Mississippi would qualify as "Higher" elevation?

Early on(2016s) people were getting their ecu "flashed" and the effects were gone after the computer relearned itself.

My 2016 has been great since the rev 1 TSB was done December 2016. The original flash in June 2016 just fixed the park to drive and drive to reverse delay. I would love to see a pdf of the new TSB. Has anyone actually seen a copy of this.

 

Isn't that something else. Or possibly just an old tsb .We had one but it's meh

 

Yeah man, Rev 1 worked for the CC hanging up in 4th gear for me. 16k miles later still good.

 

As much as mine is better than it was the first year of ownership I have expected another update. There is still room for improvement beyond rev 1. We should not be forced to spend $800 for an OVTune when all we want is a better operating transmission. This is Toyota Corporates responsibilty. But don;t get me wrong. Mine is one of the better ones and shifts pretty good. Never hung in a lower gear.

 

So how do I go by telling my dealership about this new ECU update? I own a 17. Thx

 

What’s rev 1? Trying to absorb all the knowledge before I call my local dealership
