Just want your two cents on the bumper. Photos would be cool! How happy are you with it? And would you have rather gone with the high clearance version instead? Thanks!

I have the high clearance one. It's fine. Does what it's supposed to. What questions do you have?

The locking pivot pin is prone to bending but just have to be more careful. When they bend just email CBI and they'll mail you one for $20

Seen the 4rnr guys have issues with the swing out shaking while on the road.... any issues with that on the taco? Last thing I want is the damn thing to fall off in the middle of the forest.

Nah man, built very good. If I had to do it over again I don't think I would go swingout. The bumper is a no-brainer but the swingout is more hassle than it's worth in my opinion

Gotcha! Thanks! And I don’t really need the swing out, just would be nice to get the spare out from underneath the truck.

Is the swing out removeable when using the truck as a DD? If so, is it easy to remove by one person and how long would it take?

@Outdoorsy_Yota - your rear end looks like mine when camping:rofl: I was wondering, what’s the difference in clearance between having a spare under the bed and the stock reciever hitch (like in your Avatar pic)? If you are getting a swingout, what will you mount the bikes to? I have a similar issue and was really dragging mine on my last 2 week self-contained camping trip. Im putting airbags on and was looking at rear bumpers too, but want to keep a hitch on it for my trailer.

Reason I haven’t taken my bikes to camp! Hahahahaha my buddy has a “hub” that attaches to the bolt pattern of the spare.... so I was thinking that would keep my bike up high and dry. Even if that somehow doesn’t workout, the new hitch location of the new bumper (behind the plate) looks to be plenty high to clear most trails im on

Here’s a photo of the type of bike rack my buddy has

Ah, yeah, I dragged my bike rack too crossing those rocks in the photo I just posted (Yakima reciever hitch mounted). I think it would have been good in one of those higher CBI hitches.

Now all I need is for someone with insurance to tap into my stock bumper :)

While the swingout is technically removeable it certainly is not easy. There are multiple mounting points and a big bearing that you would have to worry about contanminating

The bumper has a hitch under the license plate. I also had this conflict with mountain bikes so I had a fab shop weld up some tabs on my bed rack. This maintains departure angles if off-road with bikes, too.

Looks nice, like the matching color too. About how high off the ground is your hitch? My trailer is pretty high, so it may work well with that.

Just finished installing high clearance rear with dual swing outs yesterday.
Install is only supposed to be about 6 hours, but there were so many issues that it took me and a friend (I’m an engineer and he’s a professional mechanic) about 20 hours.

Honestly, I’ll be giving CBI a call - if it wasn’t a permanent install I’d be asking for a refund.
Their quality control has to be nonexistent.
I was missing parts like bolts, nuts, etc. missing my entire jerry can holder, but that’s all resolvable, no big deal.

The latch for the table doesn’t hold tight enough so the table falls and bangs on the back of my tailgate when driving. (On a normal road, not even rough roads or trails mind you)

The welds interferes with bolt holes, I had to re-drill and grind out every single bolt hole that was close to a weld except two.

They spot weld nuts into swing arms to match your bolts, these were so far off I couldn’t even fix it, so now I just have missing bolts.

The latch connector was welded too far to the left and at an angle so my latch doesn’t even function right.

There was a fat divot out of the swing arm riser for the pin to hold it open, so I have to squeeze my fat ass in the swing and hold the pin the whole time as I try to open it or it’ll just stop along the way when trying to swing it outwards.

The weight of a tire causes the whole arm to angle down, so I have to man handle and lift up the arm as I hold the pin to open/close and also to get it to match up up with the other arm when I latch it closed. This is actually a huge issue, cause it’s heavy AF... my wife can’t even open or close it cause of this.

And I want to reiterate that this is literally days after install, so it’s probably only going to get worse as the weight causes it to settle and everything.

Drove out to CBI two days ago and got mine installed. I’ve never been so happy with a purchase as this!

Custom welded armor is not easy to make and make well! The welds or “dimes” are immaculate! No complaints with mine at all.

Nate, Mike (sales) and Mike (installer) were awesome to work with.

I can tell you CBI’s phone calls for sales are non stop all day long. Lexus has trusted them with some custom builds too. Like the GXOR.

Since everyone’s needs and budget is different CBI probably won’t be everyone’s first choice.

Any word from CBI? Weird to see two very polarizing reviews of the same bumper

Are these made out of steel or aluminum?, I'd be concerned about the extra added weight, just my .2
