What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Do it.... Personally never liked the fake bead lock look. Those wheels are so damn clean then boom fake bead locks kill it for me

 

Well..you can make them real beadlocks..

 

I believe you could make then by welding an inner ring to wheels then bolts another plate over the top. Correct me if I'm wrong there. Real bead locks would be nice but would be way overkill for anything I do

OMF will make them legit beadlockers.




Do it for Ray10s too.

They are alloy wheels so you can't just well rings on them.

 

I hear ya, so many wheels have fake beadlock styling now. I don't mind the fake beadlocks so much as more importantly it's hard to find a good looking wheel that I like in 16x8 with 4.0 BS. That's one of the main reasons I went with the Ray10s but in matte gray. I've been thinking about blacking out my fake bead lock bolts too.

Everyone around here has Method NVs & 9 out of 10 trucks, jeeps, or whatever lifted vehicle has black wheels. Don't get me wrong I think Methods & black wheels look good but I'm so sick of seeing them on everything. Even when I went to get my wheels put on the guy at the tires shop said "oh these are like Methods right?". Uh yeah sure.

Yeah Ray10s are played out too on the net but not around here & gray seems to be the least popular color. I have yet to see the Ray10s around here, unless maybe they were in black. Black wheels all look the same from a distance!

 

Added some tube to the rear.

 

Called what seemed like the best place in the area and he said it would be around 2k for gears. It will be the next big purchase for sure

 

One of the best mods. I love my low gears.

 

What gear/tire combo are you running?

 

35x12.5r15s with 5.29 gears manual tranny.

Freaking awesome.

Its about the same as 33s with 4.88s and a manual.

 

Would 4.88s with an auto handle 35s?

 

My buddy did it on 4.10s lol And worked fine. Rubicon, dusy, Moab, no problems

 

sure. Not ideal though. To me, if you're running 35s, 5.29s is the only way to go. Especially with an auto.

I know of several that have 4.88s with 35s though and seem happy enough. Over time I think most realize they wish they'd gotten 5.29s. I've coaxed a few folks with 35s to just get 5.29s and I don't think a single one of them regrets it.

Mines not a crawler either, but I wheel it from time to time. I just want to be able to handle hills with out my truck struggling like it does.

 

Climbs the grades well?

 

My truck is a DD. 5.29s sound like a lot lol
