I prefer leds but stuck with halogen for now for headlights. Still nit sure about a retrofit

It looks pretty easy to me, unless I’m missing something major :notsure:

    Which is probably the case

That’s the plan. Everything I read says HID isn’t as good as LED, but I honestly don’t know

For regular headlights, hid is pretty unbeatable. With a 3rd gen projector, you will get better light with an HID than a LED. There will be some scatter with HID, but compared to LED, its minimal. You can do what @MattCowsmasher did and do the ultimate headlight upgrade which keeps the halogen bulbs but doubles the power through wiring.

Interesting... but that negates opening the housing for bhlm :pout:

I think I’ll hold out until I’m ready for the HID retrofit!

All I’ve ever had is HIDs as low beams and the morimoto kits have always worked great, never had a problem.

The fog lights I have now are LED bulbs and they are extremely bright but don’t project very far.

    Just the HIDs:

    With fog lamps:

EDIT: when I did the BHLM I installed the clear projector lenses so that made it just a skosh brighter.

I have tried to get my lights down as much as possible but at this point I have them so I feel safe driving at night. So I can see a head of me. In drive throughs I turn them off so they are not blinding to the guy in front. They are not HIDs. But if someone flashes me I do what that meme says. If it person does a double flash or multiple flash’s I give them the light bars. I know it’s bad but there is no need for it. I have been blinded by new cars with leds. Even HIDs I don’t flash them.

Front bumper is armored. Rear is not. ;)

I've always appreciated GM truck and SUV headlights for that reason.

Exactly the same setup I have. :fistbump:

Read through @crashnburn80's highly informative thread here. I've learned a hell of a lot from the discussion contained therein.

    Check out this thread.

Retrofits look gangster, but unless they're properly done and hermetically sealed, they're a pain. One day I'll redo my projectors.

    Or sell them.

It's all about the right tools, preparation, and patience.

IIRC I thought it was opposite.

It's one thing to have OEM projectors. Quite another to retrofit. I'm not quite sold on retrofits, but I am quite happy with the upgraded headlight harness and lightbulbs.

Did I mention I have a set of projectors taking up dust?

This thread, again by @crashnburn80 .

I understand my headlights are bright, so I am sympathetic to other drivers who may find them annoying. I cognizant to the fact that they may not realize or be astute enough to realize that my lowbeams are just bright, so one flash from an oncoming car won't be met by any response. I get where they're coming from (no pun intended). But if someone is going to have headlights convulsions or drive dangerously to get behind and flash me, that's a completely different story.
