Nice, sway and WDH depending on your weight may not be strictly needed.

Picked it back up last week. Got the ac warranted and went ahead and had them install dual solar and dual batteries

Even with th the steel box I built and frame and tongue extensions I’m still only around 1200 lbs dry

You should haul it to the cat scale fully loaded and get it's actual In use weight and calculate the new tongue weight.

I had a 7ft Sierra cabover on a ‘73 Datsun in 1984. I was WAY overloaded because the camper weighed about 1,000lbs dry. With drum brakes front and rear it was dicey. I remember wanting a V6 truck back before the manufactures were even offering them from the factory.

The Six Pacs or a mini Lance would be a good choice for a Tacoma but you would have to contend with being a bit top heavy, especially off road. One of the Four Wheel pop up truck campers might be a better choice but the canvas makes it colder inside than a solid wall.

So I'm considering downsizing from a house to a travel trailer for a year or two to minimize stuff. I'm looking at a few that have queen bed and bunks (I have 2 toddler daughters). I see the max tow rating is 3500...but see many on here pulling more than that. I would be parking it and not using it as much of a traveler until I get another house some day...but at this point, just thinking about it.

Anyone here live full time in an RV/TT? I'm looking to move from Ohio to Tennessee and basically minimize monthly payments on rent and stuff. That way I can put money away and get out of debt that the Ex and I got ourselves into. Thinking selling my house would cover a lot of a TT cost.

Get something your family would be comfortable in and rent a truck or get a buddy with a HD full size truck to get it where you want to live?

If your ‘Max tow rating’ is 3,500 lbs then you have a four cylinder and you would NOT be happy living in anything that a four cylinder could tow.

I agree. Rent a full size truck and tow a big trailer to where you want to go.

When you sell real estate if you come out ahead you must reinvest in real estate or pay capital gains tax on it.:notsure:
My opinion on living in a RV is TN is to cold to full time RV. Non of them are insulated very well.

I was at a pig roast last month. Met a guy with a 4 season camper, all walls, roof and floor fully insulated. He says he uses for hunting trips. Has been in conditions 30 below, no issues.

I camp at a campground that has a lot of “pipelines” right now. Some of these guys lease these campers.
