A 3d printer would be dope. But that means less money for truck parts...

If I tether my phone to a tablet, does the gps tether as well?

I like to use the USGS map layer, with GAIA's new free option I'm not sure it has that option.

Either way go check out https://www.trailsoffroad.com you can download the trail specific GPX file and follow that.

Bought a Scosche IPad mount from Amazon. Cost $9.99
The middle pic is how it’s supposed to sit. But I normally keep it like the bottom pic so I can still see the clock and use the hazards.

I like that but wouldn't spend more than say $10 for it. Wait, it is $10. I guess if you have steering audio controls it's ok. But how well is it going to stay stuck to the dash off roading?

I have only been using Gaia for a short time, but usually I know where the trail I want to run is first, then I find and route it on Gaia. You can also find GPX tracks for 4x4 trails to upload.

I use the ram mount kit that bolts to the pax seat. Seems sturdy enough with my 8.4" tab pro mounted to it. Gonna give it a proper shakedown this weekend on a rocky trail. Will report back.

I connect to my HU using Bluetooth so I have the steering controls available.
Haven’t tried it off-roading yet, but it seems pretty solid. My ipad is on there really snug even though I don’t push it down all the way into it.

Took it down some rocky but not super rugged trails this weekend, and this thing was rock solid. I'm very pleased with it.

I would have thought with a stalk that long it would wiggle a lot! Good to hear. Did you attach the stalk in anyway near the top?

I would have thought so too, I do need to cinch the bracket clamp down a little, but it was just fine. It's a 3/8 inch metal rod. It isn't flimsy in the least.

No other securing, but what I did do is bend the rod to a point where when the tablet is mounted, the case is just gently touching the dash. That seemed to take a lot of potential play out of the mix.

Cool! I bought some sergru (that silicone moldable putty), I'll make a couple bumper pads on that edge once I mount mine.
