Go slow and do light coats. When i did my wheels i took my time and did 8-9 coats but light and it came out way better. Waited 10/15 min between coats

To all those that plasti dip-

    1. Should I just replace with black bumper caps? (I have a black truck) or plastic dip the chrome ones?

    2. After you tapped off the emblems, how did you remove the plasti dip from the side of your truck after in talping?

I plastidipped both. Emblems are easiest thing on truck to do. Leave a few inches around the emblem before taping and spray 4/5 coats letting dry 15 min between. After last coat let it dry then just get a corner and start peeling. The emblems sit off the truck enough that it just peels off around them. I have a video of me doing it but it won’t upload here I’ll try to put it on YouTube and tag it here.

I will say that the Performix has my grille matching the other plastic. With that I'm happy. That would be a fine look for the flares also, if I ever do them. For whatever reason, I think the bumper caps would need a smoother finish. That said, derped is better than chrome any day.

Has anyone with an Inferno dipped their fender flares? I just want to see what it would look like cause I'm really debating if I want to do it or not :notsure:

i went a different route than most. i used (cant remember the color name) the gray metalizer dip on the emblems. i wanted to try to match the toyota emblem on the grill. its a pretty decent match. not exact but close enough.

the door emblem looks a little darker than the grill emblem because of the light source.

So I'm really new to this but I want to black out my emblems. Does Plasti dip really last? Years of carwashes? I watched a video on the process and it comes off the truck so easily it just makes me wonder how permanent it really is.

It’s not supposed to be permanent, thats the point of it. But it does hold up well.

It is designed to be able to be removed easily. It is also designed to last as well. The more coats you put on the more resistent to wear and tear it will have, and the easier it is to peel off if need be because it will come off in bigger chunks.

People paint entire cars with plasti-dip. Then a month later when they are over that color they can peel it off and do it again with a new color.

Mine has lasted really well. Not years yet, but numerous washes with a car wash pressure washer. I did my bumper cap and emblems and haven't had any of it come off. And if it did, I wouldn't care because it is so easy to apply. Just do it, you won't be disappointed.

I derped my badges, AND the recessed region of my '16 about 28 months ago. Took my time, did thorough prep, used about 8 coats.
ZERO degradation after time, seasons, many washings, and 30K miles.
I'm a proponent of the PlastiDip product.

I looked through about 20 pages... and didn't see any detailed pics of dipping the rear bumper caps with sensors or fender flares. Can I just put a sticker over the sensors when painting? Are y'all just taping and covering around the fender flares and painting them on the truck?
