I don't think I have any pictures, but the camera is hardly blocked at all. You can see a small amount of the spare tire up in the top right corner of the screen, otherwise the view is normal.

I have no idea what that measurement would be. All I can say is that the top of the tire when attached to the swing out does not extend towards the cab past the rear edge of the tailgate. Hopefully that makes sense.
So basically if your tent does not extend past the outside of your tailgate at all then you should be fine.

So if you use the C4 Fab BSM compatible bumper, I assume you have to remove your factory hitch. If so, what is the C4 Fab bumper hitch rated at? Any chance you could mount this bumper over the top of the factory hitch?

Can't mount over it and it's not rated

are there any other options? I dont like the plate being on a angle like that nor that the hitch is behind it. Any other options that work with the tech package?

I think RCI has an option but the BSM hangs below the bumper which probably won’t work. Most aftermarket bumpers have an integrated hitch. C4 is the only one. The angled plate is growing on me for the added clearance.

Why is this? Like why cover the hitch to begin with?

Because 99% of the people want better departure angle. So the factory hitch is completely removed.

You're not losing capability though, you still have a solid hitch that is durable and reliable. It is just moved up into the bumper.

    To each their own.

Just my thoughts, the vast majority of tacoma owners don’t tow. So why R&D

Further those that do tow how often do they tow? I don’t think flipping a plate up is a big deal even if you do tow. Plus it looks way better hidden.

I used to hate that angled plate. But the more and more I look at it the more I like it.

Aren't you loosing capacity because now it's off some bolts instead of right off the frame?

Really? I think it looks so unnatural

Stock tow hitch is off of bolts as well. If the new hitch is welded into the bumper itself it is using the stock hitch bolts + some additional ones. You'd lose some towing weight capacity due to the weight of the steel bumper itself, but not that much.

Correct, the bumper is mounted the exact same way that the factory hitch is mounted to the frame so there shouldn't be any lost capacity in the mounting system. The only way capacity would be lost is if the structure of the bumper itself is not as strong as the factory hitch, or the fact that the hitch inside the steel bumper is up so much higher than the original hitch will cause more leverage on the bumper when towing with a drop hitch. The added leverage from a drop hitch could effectively lower the towing capacity of the bumper.
We often get asked what the capacity of our bumper is and we say its close to the original capacity, but we have no way of officially testing that, so the bumper hitch does not have a rating.

Very cool. But what to do about the trailer 4/7-pin harness? I didn't see an option to have them mounted somewhere on the bumper.

This one is brand spankin new..
I know this is an old thread but I’m shopping for a bumper and I went to C4’s site and it seems the BSM supported bumper is no longer offered with swing arm tire mount only the high clearance. What happened?

@DeeBee weird. I just had my BSM supported bumper with swing arm delivered on Wednesday. I'm curious why they switched it up.
