Maybe 6,561 FT; where above that elevation electronic devices need to be de-rated due to diminishing dielectric strength.

I swear this "coasting" issue was not there when I bought the car. I just recently noticed this development. My daily commute includes going up and down hills (steep grades at some locations) and I never seen/felt that until 2-3 month ago. I bet this is by-product of "learning". The other one that pisses me off is coasting down hill, stuck in 4th and RPMs are going over the roof.

    Why do you think this?

I had mine done yesterday, watched the tech do it on his Techstream laptop. He looked up both TSB's on TIS and we saw it the same file (calibration ID) for both, in my case, 8966304A6100, which replaced what was previously installed, 8966304A6000. If you look at the TSB's side by side, you'll see the calibrations ID's are the same for both TSB's.

Because in my paper work they show that they applied both. I wouldn't think they would do both if they were the same would they?

This was mentioned before - the thought was that if the dealership performs both repairs, they get reimbursed twice from Toyota. Each TSB states 0.4 hours to reprogram the ECM - so your dealership got credit for 0.8 hours when it really only took them 0.4 hours.

Those of you getting the emails with the survey. Have you already had the TSB done? Did you contact Toyota about the transmission before?

I've had crap luck with my dealer about the ~60mph whine. It's so damn loud but "normal noise" according to them. Since i'm a doublecab longbed i'm not on the list to fix it. I have a feeling when i go in with this TSB they'll do the same thing they did with the whining. But if i could take another email from Toyota corp about tranny issues maybe that would back me up enough.

Just had mine done at 3 feet below sea level... Super happy with the new flash but I'm only one day in.

Just dropped my 18 off at the dealer to do the update. Told them not to go out and hot rod my truck around just to find out it didn’t do it because we are at sea leave. They said cool. I also installed a hidden camera so I know what happened

The "stuck in 4th downhill RPM thing" is an automatic engine breaking thing-- so you don't have to ride the brakes going downhill. Usually if you tap the brake you can get it to downshift and release.

To be honest, I've never liked the way this works. Sometimes it turns on, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it doesn't turn off when it should. Sometimes it doesn't turn on when it should. No rhyme or reason in my experience.

I'd rather simply downshift manually when necessary than have the truck do it automatically and incorrectly. Another one of those modern technology things not working as intended and yet they continue to implement it.

I haven’t had the TSB (and won’t; I have the Orange Virus tune). I beat them up with the customer satisfaction survey a few months after I purchased it.

Does anyone know if this applies to 2016 4 cylinder automatics? What is the process to get the tsb done at the dealer? Just tell them you want it done due to a lag in the throttle?

Why are dealerships hesitant to do this? Why do they have to replicate first? How hard is it just to update?

    I dont get the pushback...

Don't spend much time pushing for them to fix your differential whine. That TSB didn't help much at all.

Sounds like they know there is an issue.
Having to ask people is what amazes me.
    Don't they know ?
