I replaced my CKP with the new variant and unfortunately it didn't help with my stutter at the time.

Of course, the cause of your issue may be different.

I'd hate to see a number of people spend ~100 bucks for something that won't help.

Personally I bought a CKP because my truck was built within a week of the known time frame when the crank timing rotor anti - corrosion coating issue was happening. I didn't want to be stalling out with codes thrown back on the trails somewhere.

Just drop my 18 off at the dealer. They said they will do the update without beating the piss out of my truck. No test drive just update. I hooked up a hidden camera so I know what happened. Let’s wait and see!!

Sorry, but that notes AT. From what has been said, the ECU is different between the MTs and ATs. The AT has it's own 'puter (ECM?).

No worries. The words transmission and tranny are weirdly hard to type for some reason. I would like to use GB for gearbox, but that would really mess everyone up.

It sounds like you are going to be very happy once you get your Taco back though.

The problem is, the M/T will do the exact same thing (since the beginning of 3rd gen production) and there's no Toyota fix out for it yet.

Which is odd since there has been a couple for the AT folks, right?

I drove the wife's Forester XT for the other day for the first time in a long time. It has its own issues ( :censored: :censored: CVT), but I still think they nailed the engine software.

Yes, but - it's only the "stumble condition" TSB that could really cross over directly for M/T guys as a symptom. The other driveability TSBs (3?) that require a flash reprogram of the ECM were all related to auto transmission weirdness IIRC. Delay Park to Drive, shift flaring, harsh 1-2 shift,TC lock/unlock etc etc etc.

Us M/T guys have nothing so far...

I was just saying that the ATs got some TSB love where the MTs, esp the early ones like yours, had some real problems.

Well, they could back off the rev hang a scosche and maybe smooth the torque curve? It was mentioned that some OEM decreased the rev hang on an MT setup (Vettes?). The second one doesn't have a snowball's chance. . .

    Ha!

I haven't got the nerve to venture back in that thread. It's like PTSD every time I look.

That, and I still don't feel like I have an $800 problem. I could maybe swing it to a $400 problem if it completely fixed rev hang and closed the throttle plate a lot more while coasting. Any developments there?

The other side is that I'm saving for a new helmet that is right in the $400 range. Mine is aged at 7yrs old and nearly daily usage. The mod money priority list is long and distinguished. Tuning ranks somewhere after the locking hubs and canopy / GFC and those are all dependent on mostly non-existent bonuses.

Yeah I hear you on that.

No and no (if you're referring to engine braking on your second point).

New stuff is just around the corner, we can keep u updated via PM if you don't want to venture into the shitshow.
