Last night I grabbed a 5qt jug of Quaker State 10w-30 to change the oil in my wife's Escape.

    IMG_5927.jpg

Drain the oil, swap filters, ready to fill up with the new oil.

This is what is in the jug:

    What... the... hell?

Brand new off the Walmart shelf. Cap seal was not broken, but there was no foil seal under the cap.

Liquid is a little thicker than water, and frothy when you shake it. Anyone ever seen this before?

Craziest thing I've ever seen. Also doesn't even smell like oil.

I would pull a sample and send it to a lab to see what it actually is. I would think this was maliciously done by someone and returned to Walmart and put back on the shelf. If the foil was in tact you would have a beef with Q-State but because it was removed someone figured out how to get free oil by returning it to WM with some foreign substance in the container. I would take it up with WM though for sure.

Good job not dumping that shit into your engine!

I bet it's a lifetime collection of seamen!

if u look at the pictures posted there isn't any sign of the air tight foil wrap anywhere to be seen, I just changed my oil a few days ago and I usually punch the foil in to fill the engine, but I usually have foil remnants on the mouth of the jug, I see none on the pictures posted, so either the OP was Punk'd at the Walmart by someone or the OP might be Punking us.

This is why I order Amsoil direct. Well and I hate actually having money! JK... I actually use Amsoil because I am a brand whore and like looking down on people who buy oil at WM.

Just got back from WalMart. Apparently Quaker State oil sold in 5Qt jugs at WalMart do not have the foil cap on them. I checked another one on the shelf. The foil cap was missing, but the oil was normal synth-blend oil. I ended up grabbing a jug of Castrol so that I could complete the oil change.

I'm holding on to the jug of Quaker State for now. I've e-mailed corporate to see what their response is.

probably is, motor oil has almost a forever shelf life, it doesn't have any chemical type reactions that would make it look like Lard unless someone tampered with it for a money back return at Wally World and the OP was lucky enough to grab this bottle.

What really sucks is the OP drained the oil, and now is stuck with nothing to put back into his engine!!
