Not sure if it’s my mind or not but i feel I get better mpg’s now after having the update. I don’t feel it’s lost it either like with previous tsbs. I actually don’t have to push the ECT button every time I get into my truck now. I’m really pleased how it holds gear at about 2100 rpm!

After seeing this I took my 2018 Tacoma (900 miles on it) to the dealer. I never really checked it for the stumble at 3/4 throttle but hated how it shifted. Im scheduled to have a reflash Monday. Thanks for letting us know. I'll keep you posted on the results.

What about trying to pass someone. You press the gas and all hell breaks loose. The RPM's shoot up, the guy you're trying to pass looks over because he hears the Taco reving as if you're in the Indy 500. That's when the guy you're trying to pass suddenly speeds up because most people will take offense to that "engine overreving" sound.

Most times I won't pass because I don't want to offend someone with the "overreving". Anyone experience something similar?

It’s email address specific. It won’t let it be taken from “my” link a second time.

I noted that on my survey. I said "trying to smoothly accelerate and pass someone makes me look like the overly aggressive driver that I used to yell at."

Has anyone been told by their dealership that their Tacoma has the latest calibration? My Tacoma was built in 08/17 and i just came back from the dealership and they told me i have the latest calibration. I find this hard to believe cause this truck shifts like garbage.

if yours was built almost a yr ago, there has been 3 TSB's for the transmission, so they are lying to you, when they update it to the latest revision, the TSB states for them to put a calibration sticker under the hood, my dealer has done this the last 2 times,, just had mine done 1 1/2 weeks ago and im really happy with it, i havnt hooked my SSP back up and feel no need too.. you get an update for home computers, get updates for pc software, antivirus software, go back and tell them to update your trucks computer, just like any other software update, take TSB's with you, tell them if they cant duplicate , them them you want it done anyways, its an update, make them do it, go to the next level,

I am at 37K miles and the local stealership wanted to charge a $150 diagnostic fee to determine if the T-SB applies. I said no since they said I need to leave it for the day. I was given an attitude by the assistant serivice manager when I talked about the T-SB. I will go back another time and try to deal with a different rep. I hate it when I know more about my truck than a Toyota employee.

    At the dealership right now.

All I came in for was the update, brought them both printed out TSB’s as I’ve been experiencing both the stumble and the surge.

Service advisor told me that it would be about two hours... okay... now two hours later comes back and tells me they need to keep the truck for longer because Saturday is not a good day for this kind of thing (only day of the week I’m not working).

They offered me a loaner vehicle until Monday while they try to replicate the issue, literally told me that if they can’t replicate it, I’m out of luck. I told her if I’m trying to merge into traffic and this happens, it could get me killed. She shrugged.

Germain Toyota in Naples, FL... you fucking blow.

Just got my 2018 4x4 TRD OR DCSB (delivery - June 2018 and 1,990 miles on the odometer right now) flashed today, per both T-SB-0058-18 and T-SB-0062-18 (supposedly). The experience at the dealership could not have been better. I presented assistant service manager with printed copies of both T-SB documents and summarized my issues, which basically repeated the T-SB information. In and out within 1 hour and I got a "free" carwash, snacks, and diet coke out of the deal!

ECU Programming Report (System Type: ENG & ECT): Before: 896650404000 / After: 896650404100 AND Before: 8966304A6000 / After: 8966304A6100.

Although I've not driven the truck much since (about 30 miles), I could immediately tell the shifting is much smoother and more predictable. Looking forward to seeing how it performs going forward. Thanks to everyone on this forum who has contributed the information and their own user experiences. Much appreciated!

This literally takes them 10 minutes tops. All they do is plug in a cable open a file and wait for it to run for a few minutes and it’s done. Likely the next easiest thing they do aside from confirming floor mats are secured... sorry for your troubles

Go to post #277 and look and see if your WMI/VDS from your VIN is listed in these TSB's.

    EDIT:
They both reference the 2GR engine, which is the V6, so looks like they do not apply to the 4-cylinder.
