I want to install some footwell lighting so that they only come on with the dome lights like when I open the door, is there a wire I can tap into to do this?

Also, if I eventually want to do rock lights to do the exact same thing, could I just wire them up to the same?

    Thanks!

Thanks! With that, do I have to run a switch? I wasn't planning on adding in a switch

I don’t believe you have to if you don’t want to. Check it out. It works great.

Depends on how you want to wire it. If you want a switch you NEED the harness. If you want to run with the footwell lights resting at 12V+ then just have the switching done by the dome light a pillar ground trigger wire that will work. Me personally I would wire it to you dash lights (positive) AND the Dome (Negative) so you get some light at night only. That you would need the harness for. But if your not running switching off of BOTH positive and negative triggered combined then you wouldnt necessarily need the harness. All depends on whatcha want

@KTJO 4x4 Thanks for the shoutout! :hattip:

Thank you...I was just about to ask the reason for the harness too if I don't want a switch. The time I want the footwell lights, and possibly rock lights down the line, on is ONLY when I open the door/unlock the car with my HKEY and the dome light turns on. Now to figure out this A Pillar Ground wire...

See write-up below! You can remove the switch and have it perform as you’re intending. I think the @DSIM harness is a great solution for what you want to do and is how I have mine (rock lights + footwel lights come on with the dome lights when I open the door). I have them also controlled by a switch as well but you can skip that part if you don’t wabf bray functionality. I personally find it useful for offroading and camping to be able to turn the lights on whenever.
