They’re popping right out with chain

 

Watch for flying rocks that come off the backside of the posts and catapult up. Especially pulling with your front bumper. I'll get an occasional rock or debris in the front window of the excavator when I'm pulling something over...luckily it ain't broke yet.

 

When we bought our house i tore out a wooden fence in backyard and used neigbors tractor to pull the concreted post,but pulled one that had the satallite cable in the concrete. not too good,tore cable in half!!

 

I hate that kinda stuff. I try to use "dig alert" as much as I can but we never get any call backs so we're pretty much at the discretion of Darwin if nothing is marked above ground. We do have some gas lines up north that are marked but they're in the overhead power line right-of-way. So I kinda learned that, at least for our application, utilities are pretty much in together. But residential is totally different. It can get pretty ugly.

 

we have the same thing with powerlines gas or phone. i knew where all those were but were in the country and never thought about the satelite tv.live and learn!

 

Taking it slow but appreciate the tip

 

Something else I really dislike is hitting abandoned lines. We have a bunch on old phone land line that occassionally comes up when we're digging. But finding old power line underground really gets the heart rate up.

 

Slow or fast, stuff still flys. Rock and debris gets bound against something else and, given the right conditions, it'll shoot out like a bullet.

 

When I can get away with it, I'll cut posts off if they're in concrete so I don't have to mess with that big blob of concrete.
