Looks like a small radiator in front of the condenser in front of the actual radiator

You should be able to follow the connected lines to the transmission

Well at the risk of being a PIA I'm still not finding exactly what I am looking for...even searched the towing bible and several web sites. So, with the info I am providing here, exactly how much can I tow?...

*Vehicle has the towing package (tranny cooler, etc.)
*GVWR- 5500#
*GAWR- (frt) 2775# (rr) 3110#
*Curb weight ( according to CarMax)- 4030#

Everything that I have researched says I can tow anywhere from 3200 to 6400#...quite the range.

I am looking at a double-axle 21' travel trailer weighing about 3200#

With that said...should I be good to go...and should I consider installing trailer brakes and air bags?

Definetly trailer brake controller .Your travel trailer most likely has brakes . Is there some kind of switch on the dash for towing ? IDK because I added my tow package . You could always get an Ultra Gauge to monitor transmission temps among other things too! Is your rear suspension stock? You could go with an add a leaf or Timbren Suspension Enhancement System bumpstops . Or both . Once you tow that trailer for the first time you will know how it handles and can figure out what you want to do .
And you could do air bags like you said !

 

What exactly is the SR 5 extra value package? Mine is SR5 package #2 .

What kind of wheels are on it . Post up some pictures . I’m looking at the specs now and I don’t see anything that says Extra value package just convenience package for SR5

 

There is no switch under the dash and suspension appears to be stock...4 leafs each side and looks like factory shocks as well

 

If it has the tow package hook it up and take it for a ride ,see how it handles . You will also need a weight Distribition hitch . My WDH also has sway control .

 

Wheels are stock alloy...don't know how to post pics.

You can’t pull something that big just off the tow ball .

In the owners manual for my '13, the towing capacity definitions and various vehicle charts start on pg 221.

This is for all Tacomas, not just mine. My 5 lug access cab 4cyl auto is 3500# tow.

The 4.0s are either 3500 or 6500, depending on tow package or no.

If you have the package, which you seem to have determined, you are rated for 6500# max, per Toyota.

Your 3500# trailer should be no issue.

I do recommend getting an owners manual if you don't have one. I'm pretty sure you can download a PDF version from Toyota for free. It contains a lot of good detail on towing terms, weight ratings of the vehicle and trailer, hitch types and loading, etc.

The production date you need to know to select the right manual is in the label on your driver door jamb.

Also: added a pic (not mine) to post 23 above. It is a 2nd gen, stock location, but the grill is not in the vehicle so you have a nicer view. Now you know what you are looking for.

 

Thanks Bill...based on what I have found and what you have told me I am confident as to what I have and what I can tow. Once I get the trailer I am still going to install the Timbren SES (or similar) and trailer brakes... I'm also going to read my owners manual!
