My Taco was made in San Antonio. I wouldn't doubt the clutch was made in Mexico, though.

And so our only option is to find a pre-16 non junk? Out of curiosity, which model year are you driving, because there are many on here with an MT and just fine...don’t think it’s fair to categorize this gen as junk because of a few horror stories on a forum. If it were true junk, toyota wouldn’t be in business this long, or this successful with a model, because their reputation would be of how domestics were for a while, and you wouldn’t be on this forum in the first place if you believed someones post like yourself for whatever gen you drive...yes they don’t build them like they used to parts wise, but that’s because manufacturing is becoming leaner, high volume and economical to keep costs down, replacement parts in expensive, insurance premiums lower, and dare I mention innovative engineering has made this “junk” you speak of safer?

Half his truck is probably made in Mexico, that’s completely irrevalant. Everything is designed and made to spec based off Toyota’s standards. So who’s to really blame? Not Mexico

I think a stage 3 is a little overkill for a daily driver.

That really sucks. I have 183k on my original supercharged powertrain and it's still holding strong.

I did kill a clutch in our '87 4Runner as a teen trying to get it to peal out all the time (ha! 105 hp pealing out!). And I do know you can install a clutch wrong and have it fail in short order. I drank beer while a friend replaced a clutch in an early 90s 22RE Pickup. He had a buddy who was a real clutch install "pro" supervising the job (some body other than me, of course). After all was said and done, the clutch failed within 10k and it was due, in part, to the pro contaminating the flywheel with greasy hands, despite us getting in an argument with him about that and him reassuring the owner that it was a non-issue.

Either way, I hope Toyota does the right thing.

My buddy had a stage 3 on his Mazda rx8 he turbo’d. That clutch was so strong It was like the engine seized as soon as you engaged the thing. There wasn’t any feathering that clutch. It was pretty much fully engaged or disengaged. A pain in the ass to drive around

I have a Centerforce Stage II in my Civic. Seems like a decent clutch.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, I have an automatic transmission and haven’t experienced this issue, but I feel for you. We drove over 200k miles with my ‘95 4Runner and over 180k miles with our ‘85 Toyota pickup and we never had to replace the clutch. Not sure if there is a design issue, bad luck or just bad driving going on with the newer Tacomas, but it seems that several people have complained about low mileage clutches with theirs.

Sorry all, but your trucks were only assembled in Texas or Mexico. All of the parts are made from all different countries the suppliers are located in. The parts are not quality checked by Toyota Motor Corp. They rely on the supplier to do their own quality checks and then ship to the assembly plants. Then there is calibration of all the robots that do the assembling in said plant. The parameters get screwed up and needs to be recalibrated or tweaked. So you end up with a 100 trucks or so that come out with loose bolts, low fluid etc...
