I should have looked a little closer at the regs last year...If I would have got my "A" tag I would have had an extra week in Dec for elk...oh well..least this year I got my "A" tag...so I have lots of opportunities to get elk...IF I dont mess up...again!

Getting an Elk tag in Michigan is like winning the Lotto.

Ain't that the truth! I lived here 6 years and I still have not ventured north to at least try to see some in this state!
I did pull a tag for NM elk this year!

Loving them inside corners of the woods, as well as that narrow strip connecting the two larger patches of woods.

Yes sir, one stand is in that corner to the right, and one is straight down the middle of that center dark green patch if you were to follow the line that runs down the patch of it. And then one behind me.

Well for you and the rest of us, I hope it gets colder in Sept....I'm tired of hunting in the heat each year!

This guy has made a guest appearance...has about 2 other cows and couple babies with him...5x4 not big but about what people take around here. He is about 21yds from my blind on a trail that heads to water below past where the closest tree is behind him. About 60-80yds below is a year round spring.

Yeah, in Michigan they haven't been reintroduced very long. They are here, but few and far between. I would like to hunt them someday. I've eaten them, they're delicious.

Hopefully we start to see them more, but we have lots of white tail for the time being.

Some next level hunting for you. Australian outback. I'm sure they were flown in via helicopter.

we have a lot of them here, just a lot more people hunt them...I am torn between getting a nice bull and a big cow elk. BUT Im not going to be picky if either one comes out and I have a shot. 15 sep to 21 is any elk so if a cow steps out shes done. between the 6th of sept and 30 sept is my archery season;)
