    Greetings!

Been enjoying my TRD with push button start and so forth. Then I made a minor alteration and things went downhill from there.

I 1) clipped the wires for the interior mirror, planning to use them to run power for some other things. Then, when seemingly random issues hit I 2) disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes in order to reset the electronics.

Now the power windows and power rear window do not operate at all.

And the air conditioning isn't working correctly. The a/c and recirculate lights don't turn off or on, and while there seems to be some cold air coming out of the end dash vents most of the cold air is coming out of the defroster slot at the base of the windshield.

    Thoughts?

Where did you clip the wires, and are your sure it was just the power to the mirror?

What he said and perhaps disconnect what you installed to see if it still blows something

If you cut the pos and neg wires at the same time you probably blew a fuse

Exactly where did you do this snipping?

    Were you following someone's instructions?

Did you disconnect the battery before snipping?

Have you checked all fuses with a DVM?

One more thing... If you check the fuses, they may not appear blown but can in fact be blown. Check thoroughly to ensure they are def not blown. It’s hsppened to me in a different vehicle in the past.

Always disconnect battery no matter how simple a task can be.

I have checked but wouldn't discount that something got missed. If no one has a programming or hidden switch solution then double checking the fuses is in order.

I did find one blown fuse btw. (earlier post had a typo saying that I did not).

Did you cut the wires to the mirrors or did you tap them?

I snipped the wire going into the mirror. It's exposed.

Yup. Was following someone's directions on how to hardwire a dashcam.

I tested all the fuses but am open to retesting.

So it's not connected at all? I'd say connect it and see if that fixes it and in the future either finish your connections and don't leave exposed wires or use wire taps.

    Welcome to The Forum!

Sorry to hear you are having problems. You might want to return the wiring to stock and see if your issues still occur.

Please be more specific, what did you connect to the mirror feeds?
You could have caused a melt down of some wires which are not visible to you. Polarity makes a big difference.

So many circuits are multiplexed and a lot don’t even run full 12volts anymore. A lot of stuff also isn’t fused anymore, or can’t substain the amperage of adding or controlling additional accessories. Doing stupid shit like this is an easy way to blow out a BCM.

There are multiple wires going in to the mirror... mirror adjustment motors, mirror defrosters, turn signals... which ones did you cut?

Yeah. That would be a good way to check the integrity. Nothing will confuse someone more than seeing a fuse that looks intact but actually is blown. I went without interior lighting for close to a week in a previous car until I finally said screw it and changed the fuse. Worked like a dream. The fuse looked brand new but was blown.

i know people like to do their own mods but sometimes not having any automotive experience and listening to other people can send you down the wrong path! specially now that cars electrical systems are so complex and fragile! i would start out by fixing the wires you cut (solid connections, don't just twist the wires and wrap electrical tape) RAYCHEM[IMG] makes awesome heat shrink butt splices, home depot sells them. when done right they make a solid waterproof connection and check the fuses hopefully that fixes it!

I agree with the reattaching all wires and see what you got. That’s a good way to figure it out also.
