Old bushings and sleeves out. New BJs in.

Can't figure out a good way to press the bushings in.

Shop press just kicks out, BJ press won't fit because bushing + Adapters are too long, bench vice wont open wide enough.

I'm going to see if the big vice at work will open enough tomorrow. If not, I’m going to try @stairgod ’s suggestion and try to pull the bushings in with threaded rod, washers, and nuts.

Have you done the bushings? How’d you get them in?

Same way you press in any bushing, use plenty of the red gew so you aren't going in dry.

There’s a steel sleeve correct? Think freezing them would help?

There is. I had them in the freezer all day. Just couldn’t get the BJ press in there with the Adapters I have.

Hmm, think something like this would do the trick? It’s a uniball press. I have 1” and 1.5”DB701E2F-6968-4594-B6ED-8B70DBEB30A5.jpg

That is one beefy LCA. I am still pissed that I didn't get the Dirt Designs kit

Edit: I know that is the DK LCA in that pic

Nope, LSK. Had to get them repowdercoated. Original job wasn’t NJ winter worthy.

The Dirt King lowers are actually really awesome looking. If I didn’t have them all wrapped up I’d take a picture. Very nice pieces. And the powder coat is impeccable.

@HolyHandGrenade i know this may not be a forum approved method but I just run them in without the adapters. I’ve done it with aftermarket poly bushings and oem bushing with no ill effects. When the bushings are new they are stiff enough to handle being pushed from the middle.

Akchooally I use a large cup on the receiving end but nothing on the side being pressed on. @Chux yuesd to have a video from when we did his

I didn't think LSK used a lower uniball in standard orientation. I stand corrected.
