I think I’m going to do the Icon stage 2 for my 2018 double cab short bed. If I just adjust the lift to about 2.25” in the front do I really need upper control arms? Cheers and thanks.

While they might not be needed, a good set of UCAs is always suggested to insure proper alignment.

So that’s where I’m confused as the icon tubular UCA’s have no adjustment on them. Is the geometry different somehow or is it just that the upper joint has more play? (Allowing a little more down travel) The additional play isn’t going to change your alignment unless it’s located in a different spot. So I’m confused how it helps alignment.

You’re going to adjust your toe by the tie rods.
Camber is adjusted by the eccentric on the lowers.
There is no caster adjustment unless you have the SPC’s...

Could depend on wheel setup (backspacing/offset)

If ICON UCAs are the same as the others, then they change the geometry to give you +2 caster to start with.

Alright everyone, I've read through a TON of this thread and haven't seen much on what I'm looking for. What are some good options for about 1" of lift on my New '18 OR? New coil springs on stock shocks maybe? I only plan on running 255/85r16s and I know I don't need any lift but I'd like a little anyways.

I have a 2017 Tacoma sport 4x4 double cab short bed. I raised my front passenger side 1.55" with stock springs and 4th notch on 5100s and drive side 1.55" with 5100s on 4 notch plus the 1/4" spacer to correct the half inch taco lean. Does this mean I lifted my truck 2"? Will I need UCAs to get proper alignment?

I'm also installing Cooper 255's and wanted a lift of 1.5 to 2" (a bit more than what you're looking for) and decided on the Old Man Emu with Dakars. Once the bed mounted rack, tent, etc. and the front bumper with winch are installed, from what I've read it should settle to around 1.5". https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/s...mu_Kit_w/_Dakar_Leaf_Pack_-_2016__Tacoma.html

I went with the 886 coil and Dakar's because of the additional weight. If you're not planning on a bunch of weight, you could go with a different coil and add-a-leaf.

Those leaf springs will probably work since I'll be building a platform/ drawer system for the bed.

Hey guys. So I'm new to a lot of this and could use some help. Have an mgm 18 off road and ordering lift this week. After talking on here and researching I think I decided against the 4 or 6in RC.

Now its between OME or Bilstein.

Daily driver, no crazy off roading. Light trails, hunting, trips to the mountains etc.

    Going to do 275-75-18 ridgegrapplers
    Matte black fuel vapors 18x9

Just need help on lift. Which one or anyone that can speak on either?
    Also, tires should fit, correct?

Is there much of a concern with getting 2 year old used toytech/bilsteins? I mean, if they appear in good condition, do the shocks, probably more specifically, change with age and use? I wouldn't expect 2 years to be a problem.

I assume you’re referring to the loud grinding noise at the very end. Sounds like your tires are rubbing on either the pinch weld or the cab mount when you hit a large bump at speed.

Yeah that's what I assumed as well and it could really be provoked by braking the body dipping forward. The reason I was scratching my head is there's no evidence of it after the fact. I kicked up a lot of dust but it's not clear where any rubbing occurred. Next time I'll stop immediately and look for smudges.

When you say you have a 3 1/4 inch lift in the front are you comparing this to a second gen? if so would this make it 2 1/4 over stock? i believe the 888 is only 5mm taller than the 887 which is a 0.2 inch difference. this would make sense with a 2 1/4 front lift.

Sorry its just confusing as some state lifts over stock while others compare to 2nd gen.

    Thanks!
