I think there is some confusion here. Both 0058-18 and 0062-18 are for 2016-2018. 58 is the engine surge at 40-50 mph, 62 is the WOT stumble at take off (1500 rpm). You can get both TSB's applied, but they do the same thing, it's the same calibration ID.

    Heres a question
Does disconnecting the truck battary reset the trannys "learning" behaviors, and if so it doesnt wipe out the update am I right?
Or does updating the Tranny automatically wipe out the previous learning behaviours?

Thank you for this update. Did you not ask for both updates? Or was the dealer hesitant to do both?

Disconnecting the battery for a minute won't do anything. I think it needs to be unhooked for like 15 or 30 minutes. Someone else please confirm.

This will wipe out the "learned" driving behavior. But it won't wipe out the updates. This is my understanding, anyway. They are two different things.

They have no control over that. The lagging is a byproduct of the tune.

I have the surge in the morning, every morning. I have 40k miles now on my 17. Is the dealer going to try and charge me for this, or should it be covered by the Power train warranty?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

Dealer did the 62-18 update but dropped the ball on 58-18. Service writer did not even note the symptoms I gave him about surging and shifting dance over 40 mph. Truck seems to drive better, although I have really only driven home from service and now to the office once. We will see how it acts over time.

Found the leak in about 5 minutes according to the service tech. Replaced the 3rd brake light. Gasket is just barely visible on the new light if you look between the cab and edge of light. The old one gasket was not visible at all.

Roof trim molding - not in stock they ordered it and will call to install once it arrives.

They "looked" for mold and mildew thinking it was the cause and found everything clean. We are going on a small vacation this weekend and taking her Rav, so I will put an ozone machine in the truck and let is run while we are gone. Hopefully that will burn out the smell. I can use some fabreeze in the carpet as well when we get back. I honestly think the service department dropped/sprayed in some air freshener that we just dislike on a prior service.

I may be way off here, but I can't imagine that 62-18 doesn't include what was in 58-18. You can't just pick and choose which segments of the ECU tune are overwritten.

There is only one update that multiple TSBs reference. The update to the ECU is massive in scope and affects torque converter, shifting, throttle, fuel targets, etc., These 2 TSBs are the tip of the iceberg as the EXACT SAME update will solve many issues not yet referenced in a TSB... You only need one update done as it is the same ECU version and I believe should be mandatory for all 16-17s at a bare minimum. Likely should even be a safety recall due to the dead pedal, can't turn in traffic without almost getting hit "characteristics" of the prior ECU versions. Until that happens though, say whatever you need to in order to get this TSB done.

had this done over the weekend at the dealers, seems to run a little better, but only had a chance to hit the throttle a couple times and it seems like less of a lag...

Got mine done at the dealership today, just got back. I could tell a difference in throttle response before I even got out of the parking lot. It drives like a completely different truck.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

    You may be right.

As I mentioned in my post, he did not even list all of the symptoms I told him on the service ticket. That leads one to think that those complaints were either not addressed, not heard, or possibly corrected with the updated mentioned but not explained to the customer. :notsure:

Paraphrasing the exit discussion, he did make special point to address the truck was not washed (per request), could not find source of smell (pulled panels from behind seat to search for mold etc and found nothing, BTW who put the foam blocks on the cab vents back there?), roof leak fixed (took less than 5 minutes of water hose to find the leak new light with better seals was put on, you should not see water coming in again), applied update for TSB-0062-18 (the truck should be able to take off on WOT when asked now rather than waiting a few seconds and responding with a sudden, late acceleration), roof trim had to be ordered (I'll call you Tue or Wed when we get it to arrange installation), tire pressure is perfect, fluids were all checked and topped off (you use your washers regularly don't you?), we did the 15K service and everything looks great, and finally he pointed out that I may get a survey by email and it is important that I complete it if I get one because it reflects on him and how the boss thinks he does his job. :)

Again, there was no mention of the shifting dance or throttle surge I complained about when the truck came in. I chose not to "bust his chops" because I thought the update MIGHT have addressed all my concerns and I will have it back in the dealership in a couple days for the roof trim if I see issues before then I can call him out on it then.

I have not seen the surge again yet, or the difficulty holding gears at highway speeds, where I have not driven yet.

FYI - FL has a crap ton of bugs that love to splatter on your windshield, working in an industrial park that is surrounded by orchards puts a lot of dust on and attract more insects to die on your truck.:rofl:
