Craziest thing pulled from a tire?!?

Also a railroad spike. Made a terrible racket but it sealed up well enough to get home.

 

Short piece of railroad track - well, it stayed on the ground but the tire rolled right over it and had an instant blowout. A bunch of other cars hit it too. A local tire shop must have left it there on the freeway!

 

My wife has 285/65/18 BFG KO2s on her Tahoe. She picked up one of the clamp on style wheel weights in the tread last year. I was surprised it went all the way through... those are hefty tires.

Interesting thing I learned a while back: punctures through the tread via road debris tend to affect the rear tires more than the front. This is because the front tires stir up the debris and it hits the back, causing the puncture.

 

I pulled a 3/8 allen wrench out one time and a 5/16 bolt out just last week .
but i think i want to put these on !! or maybe just her ;-)

I once drove over 4-5 inch long slip joint pliers. After tearing up my tire they got stuck in the wheel well liner. Asides from a few minor scratches they survived so I kept them. Most expensive pliers ever!

 

I work as the alignment tech/mechanic for a tire shop and you would be amazed at some of the things that get pulled out of tires. The two that really stick with me are a 13mm open end wrench and a toothpick,yes a toothpick....

 

I got a spark plug in my tire once. Worst part was it might have been my own plug since I "lost" one in the engine bay while changing my plugs a few weeks before.

 

Got a fork stuck in my front tire on my race car noticed it in post race inspection never went flat though

Got 2 rear flats at the same time in my prerunner, railroad spikes in both, only had one front 30” spare put the spare on the back took one front tire off and put it on the other side in the back and put one of the flat 35” s on the front drove 4miles to a phone (pre cell phone days) and called my girlfriend and had her stuff 2 rear spares in her car and drove them out to me, always carried at least 2 spares after that

Keys and tools are the weirdest I've seen.

 

A few years ago I picked up a S hook, still had the solid rubber bungee thing attached. It beat the hell out of the side of my truck, lucky the hook on the other side was missing or it would have done some real damage.

 

I had a large piece of plastic bumper wedged between my tire and bumper once. Never understood how it got there.

 

Pulled the complete sharp end of a big pair of scissors out of a tire after a can of Fix-a-flat and 15 miles.

 

Are rattlesnake fangs that solid? Always thought they were more of a softer tissue. Never would be able to imagine they would actually be able to stick into a tire. Crazy. Sorry for the ignorance, we don’t have rattlesnakes around these parts lol

 

They are pretty soft and flexible, but very sharp at the tip. I've had mesquite thorns puncture a leather boot. And a post above mentions a toothpick puncturing a tire. It doesn't take much to stick in rubber.

 

Depends on the compound but most stuff is really soft these days. A toothpick could stick in but I would have a hard time believing it would actually fully penetrate into the innerliner without snapping. I guess it’s possible but the chances are crazy high.

I’m still blown away how people get all this big shit in there tires... are hey not paying attention to the road? I could see maybe picking some of the stuff up off-road as it would be harder to see but I’m pretty sure I would see a railroad spike or screw driver or anything else that big laying on the road. Fortunately for me I never had anything other than a small nail or screw. Probably just jinxing myself now lol

 

Girlfriend hit a rock on the side of the road destroyed both tires and rims completely. Thankfully it wasn’t my truck

Pffft, I got this.
I had a chicken bone, yes a chicken bone in my tire. We have a bear who likes to make a mess of our neighborhood garbage and I mustve ran over it on the way to work one morning.
Then a few months later I got another puncture from a deer rib bone from a roadkill.
Yup. 2 flats from bones in less than a year.

 

I can believe that one! Had a buddy of mine over to the house one night and while drinking beers in the garage we literally watched the left rear tire of his 2nd gen go flat. When we pulled the wheel off we found a small chunk of a turtle shell in the middle of the tread. Its amazing what can puncture a tire at the right angle.
