Bought my usb plate for $10 on Amazon and also got a 3 pack of add-a-circuits and a 12" usb C cable

That's a nice clean install, but I have something different in mind for mine. I'd prefer to have a cable come out right behind my RAM mount that I can plug straight in to my phone.

Just edited the original post to include a link to the @motionridr8 hardware thread. I actually had a conversation with Drew about doing this some time ago and frankly, I dropped the ball. My apologies for anyone that had to suffer searching for the link, but it is there now.

Keep posting pictures of your personal twist on it. Also, Ive been hearing that it works perfectly on 3rd and 4rth gen 4Runners too.

I found that having a phone mounted onto the pillar distracts me alot, because I'm still new to driving (I'm 16). I found a RAM mount in my garage, my mom was about to throw it away, so I took a look at it, and saw a RAM trademark. I decided to put it to use in its current condition. I superglued one end to the blank spot under the A/C vent, and used a piece of duck tape to hold my phone. It works surprisingly well. The Texas heat allows the duck tape to never lose its stickiness because my truck is parked out in the sun for most of the day. I will eventually buy the X-Grip mount.20180723_222815.jpg 20180723_223128.jpg IMG_5074.jpg

It’s a solution that looks good. Sadly that one won’t work for 4wd equipped models. Thanks for sharing.

That's awfully responsible of you to admit that it's too distracting. Tell your friends to be like you and keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel.

Yeah, I think theres a selection nob on 4x4 models. They can glue it to the other side though, I think the passenger side is blank.

I don't like to text and drive, nor use my phone at a red light, but if I have to, I will. I like to just take extra caution when I drive. Phone mounts are illegal in my school zone, so if a police officer sees me looking at my phone mount, thats a $150 fine.

True, my doublecab has a blank on the other side. Think access and single cabs have a key slot to disable the passenger side airbag.

Yes they do. I might add another mount for my iPad in the other blank spot.

Great mod, takes just a few minutes! I was by an ACE hardware and they had the M6-50 bolt and nuts, so I went ahead and got them even though I ordered some from a member here. They charged me for .01 bolts o_O

Thanks for that mate, but I still think the @ImMrYo rearview mirror riser is my overall favorite. No more ducking around the rear view that just sits too low in the center of the windscreen.

I haven't really noticed the need for the mirror riser. Is the mirror different 2014+?

It might be. I’m a bit tall and I found that I was regularly ducking around in the cab to see past the mirror, especially when in town.

RVM riser bracket if for sure the best mod. Only took me 2 days of driving the Taco before i started searching for a solution. hahaha The A pillar Ram mount did follow closely after. Can't remember if it came before the tint.

    I have one of these:

Hold my ScanGauge. I have it tucked in so it doesn't obstruct anything - view out the windshield or my hands on the steering wheel.

I was looking at those, but wondered if all the extra adjustment knobs would bother me. Can you post some pics of your setup from the driver's view and side angle? Maybe from the outside through the windshield if you can. I'm trying to visualize how this would work without buying yet another piece of RAM gear.
