Just depends on what kind of terrain you go over and at what speed. If you're just crawlin' trails/rocks and the occasional fire trail, doubles will be fine. If you plan on trying to be a race truck, go with triples, you'll thank yourself when you finally go SUA.

Get triples. You can always add hydros later. Are you going with 12" or 14" shocks?

No race truck here. However I would like to be able to take some rough terrain with a little more speed, no jumps or 3' whoops. I'm thinking triples are the consensus here and it seems smart considering it's only about $200 more just to have them and leave options open for SUA. Thanks fellas!

    I'm gonna go with a 14"

Good call. Hell do the 14" triples and keep stock bumps for a few paychecks and go hydro bumps. They're not too expensive anyways

And in a few more paychecks ditch them and go with 16" triples and sua and a few more after that link it and a few more later...

Ehhhhh give him a few years between sua and links. I like my setup, but won't jump to links likely for a few years until stuff starts breaking or constantly needing maintenance

Few paychecks is an indeterminate measure of time :anonymous:

At my rate, it's gonna be a few years worth of paychecks.

Haha, that's the short version of the step by step guide to prerunner race truck ownership.

Seriously though only reason I'm going 14" is because I wanna keep my bed sealed. Otherwise I'd just go straight to 16", cage, and DMZ. But Yeah I'll be stock bumps for a little bit. One step at a time, maybe I'll do a u-bolt flip with superbumps. Don't really plan on hitting the bumpstops much but being able to tune a bump zone sounds good too.

Sounds like the real issue is just developing comfort with a dirty bed. If you do a lot of mudding though...then I could see your concern.

if you have a camper shell and actually use the interior of your bed daily or camp in the bed penetrating the bed creates a constant dust bomb. That is why I did not want to penetrate my bed when I did my links.

Agreed as that makes sense...I guess Im used to the guys who have a camper shell mostly just to keep things from getting stolen.

This is the main reason why I didnt want to put holes in my bed, or a cage. It's nice knowing I have that much travel, but can still use the bed as normal.

You can do a very minimal cage to get the support you need without taking up bed space, check out my build thread or check out @glorifiedwelder 's thread from his shop. He recently built a super clean set up for one of his customers with a very minimal bed cage to support the shock hoops.

You do know you can use 4x4 with the +3.5 kit right....?

    Why would you do that?

Anyways all you would need to do is get 2wd wheel bearings

Like convert to a 2wd or selling off your midtravel? I sold off my midtravel to go 3.5 although it helps if you have the cash to front LT first and then recoup more after selling off what you got.
