304 is not considered a soft metal. It work hardens very easily especially when trying to do any type of hole cutting. Best to use a cobalt drill with plenty of cutting fluid or flood coolant. SFM is important but kind of tough to gauge if using a hand drill. 303 has easier machiniability but probably does not come in the material type/shape you need.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I was out of spray lube so I used some rapid tap. I'll have to get some Cobalt bits though.

Keeping it cool is most important, which means plenty of lube & not too fast. You can look up recommended SFM for the drill size & type you are using online. Once you work harden it, that's it, your bit is not going to cut anymore. You would then need to either grind the hardened area or use a carbide drill.

I've got one of these cheapo blasters, it actually works fine for small projects but if you try to do much more you'll have to stop and reload it a lot.

I bought this same blaster to use with baking soda instead of an abrasive media. It worked decent on some dirt bike wheels and hubs. Some tips, drill out the feeder tube so that it can flow better and use a water filter.

Yep, it won't run with pool filter sand without opening it up a little; of course then you'd have to refill it even sooner. I'm only using it on small parts so I just use the silica bead blast media. I've used it on a couple of gun parts before parkerizing and it did just fine.

I have been sitting on a approved form 1 for a .30 cal can and those step bits look perfect for drilling the holes

I bought a box of this blast media (using a 20% off coupon of course) and so far it's worked fine. It is messy as hell though, I can't find my hood so last time I used it I wore safety glasses and a face shield, and definitely wear a mask.

Would this media and this work ok for blasting some taco wheels?

I've used the soda ( ) on motorcycle wheels with good success and you can just hose it off when done. The only issue I had was after a while it started to cake and would clog the blaster. I think once you open the bag you have to use it all.

Did you have a dryer on your line? Harbor freight sells them as well including a disposable model. Any moisture in your lines and the stuff starts caking.

Now that the HF trailers are back, can I ask a favor of you guys? Can you scan your local adds to see if there is a coupon for the trailers?

    Thanks in advance
