I would agree with this assessment of the ECT button.

I used ECT this morning on my 40 mile commute in rush hour traffic.

Throttle response is a little more sensitive and the transmission will hold the gear for a higher Speed/RPM before shifting especially into one of the Overdrive gears. It takes less throttle modulation to get the transmission to downshift in ECT.

I can see using ECT now while Off Road or Hauling heavy load.

I have not tested S mode that is used for pulling a Trailer.

It unlearns the short term memory. In order to wipe it completely you need to have it flashed.

Is there a post that explains having it flashed? I need all of it! lol This stumble almost caused a wreck last week. I was trying to change lanes on a busy freeway and when I needed to accelerate, the drag occurred. I could have been hit.

I have an appt to do both the update and the learned behavior reset. My dealership gave me no flack whatsoever. :)

From what I remember from the last ECU update I did, any new TSB ECU update will wipe your computer. I could be wrong as I cannot remember for sure.

Is the TSB ECU different from the TSB 62-18?

Flashed my '18 in my driveway this morning. Being an OVTune user, I had the Tactrix OBD adapter, as well as a copy of TechStream. Simple process. Great success on the part of Toyota. Not as much power as the 91 octane OVTune, but this should make most owners very happy. Have yet to test it at interstate speeds.

I did mine the same way. What an improvement over the original stock tune. So far I'm pretty sure if my truck performed like this originally I wouldn't have bought the ov tune. This is how the truck should have been tuned day one! Now as long as it doesn't revert back to its old ways, I'll be happy.

I was thinking the same thing, but couldn't bring myself to say it.

If the stock tune is this good, and Mat is promising more goodies in 1.05, I'm sure it's going to be a winner.

How would you guys say that it compares to 1.04 on 87 octane?

Feels very similar to me. As has been mentioned, it's quick to go through gears 1, 2 and 3. Granted, I only have about 10 miles on this TSB, and only briefly ran the 87 OVTune.

I was running 1.04/87, I'd say it's a bit higher on the performance end, shift points etc are a little higher. I loved the tune and looking forward to 1.05, but I'm just saying this tsb puts the truck where it should have been originally imo.

62-18 or 58-18 TSB? Im going in to get this done in a few hours and I will be bringing both TSBs to the service foremen to see if these are the same or different. They are so close to each other in release date that its hard to think they are the same. But, as I understood it, the most current TSB had all the other fixes in its update.

I installed the update myself with techstream, but the same ecu update fixes both. They just have different tsb's to identify different issues, both with the same fix.

They should have another TSB for "Transmission shifts like shit" with the same ecu update. :)

    A couple things
Just got back from getting mine done....I actually think it’s worse than it was about jumping to 4th gear on a incline. It might as well not even have 5th gear.

Here we go. This is why I love TW. Now the Toyota tune makes it worse.....probably does....or maybe not.....ugh.
