Mine has seemed to work pretty well, plus i like that it gives the front a little more shape.... as long as you go with the low profile one, the tall ones are gay

remove that sucker...no need for it...it only does damage to the paint on the hood...

if installed by factory...you can take it down to toyota ask them to remove it and if there is any paint damage they have to paint it no questions asked...and you don't even have to pay $$$...:D

^i've had tons of friends that had it removed by toyota and dealership had to repaint the hoods; cause it was installed at the factory or at the stealership...

on my wife's murano had a local tint shop intall this clear protection film or a clear bra. It covered about the first 1' of the hood, the front painted bumper and the mirrors.. hardly could tell it was on.. 4 years and the it worked awesome..

If I got my 2nd Gen brand new, i would have gone that route as well..

yeah the 3m clear protection film is really good stuff...i've seen lamborghini's and ferrari's completely covered in it and you couldn't tell unless you ran your finger along the edges of the body line...

    to each their own...

Ummm...NO... the deflector itself isnt whats keeping bugs/small rocks from hitting your windshield, its the aerodynamics of it that uses the wind going over it to carry debris over the windshield instead of at it....

I'm sorry to say but the aerodynamics of the bug reflector isn't enough to keep rocks from hitting your windshield...

yes it will work on bugs...but if you put some Rain X All Season Washer Fluid bugs come off like nothing...:D and during the winter it will deice snow and frost and keep the snow and ice from sticking on the windshield...the bug deflector can't do that...lol

I know that no one said anything about it deflecting ice or snow...I was just saying that the Rain X products can do what the bug deflector can't...

honestly I don't see how the bug deflector keeps rocks from hitting the windshield...the wind (turbulence) that comes off the deflector isn't strong enough to blow rocks over the cab of the truck...unless you have a video or know of 1 that shows rocks getting lifted above the cab without hitting the windshield, hood, or cab of the truck...I highly doubt that it will keep rocks from hitting the windshield...

    our trucks aren't that aerodynamic...lol

Im talking about small rocks as in less than dime size... even rocks that size are enough to pit your glass...

yes I understand that...but what I'm saying is that with the bug deflector the wind/turbulence that's coming off of the deflector doesn't have enough force to keep the rocks floating in the air and keeping it pushed up high enough to clear the windshield and the cab of the truck itself...

do you get what I'm saying?

+in most states if you have full coverage insurance they will replace your front windshield with no deductible...:D

our trucks in no way are aerodynamic enough to create a nice pocket of air where objects such as bugs and rocks won't hit the vehicle...even the X-Runners are lower to the ground but still have terrible aerodynamics so what makes you think just cause your a 4x2 or 4x4 tacoma (whether stock height, dropped, or lifted) the aerodynamics of the vehicle would change so drastically just because a bug deflector is installed?

I just got finished with a 3,000 mile turn and burn road trip from Lake Havasu Az to Seattle Wa and I wish I had installed a deflecter before the trip---took one good sized rock to the windshield resulting in a bulls eye larger than a dime and two small rock chips to the front section of the hood. The deflecter may not have prevented the bulls eye but defenitly would have prevented the chips to the paint. Ive got glass coverage on my insurance so the windshield is just a hassel. Just my opinion...
