i was driving in the rain today, and i had a water coming in at the top corner of the windsheild, then when i get home, under my feet the floor
is soaked,had to use the shopvac to suck the water out. i'm so impressesd with my tacoma,i think i'll sell and buy a ford. before i do does anyone have an idea as to what to do.

 

Take it to the dealership with the water in the floor board and ask them about toyota quality. Say it loud enough the sheep in the showroom floor hear it and demand it be fixed.

 

Or just get the seal in your windshield replaced if out of warranty. But I guess that's the easy way to fix it. Everyone above has already gone the extra mile for you on recommendations.

Obviously you're frustrated, but whining about selling and buying a Ford isn't going to garner much sympathy on this forum. Most of the guys gave you good advice, get the dealer to take a look. Most likely..if you're not pouting and threatening to buy a Ford, they will take care of you, especially if there's a TSB.

Your windshield was most likely replaced at some point and the installer didn't do it right.

So, yes, sell it and buy a Ford. Ford windshields don't get replaced.

You do not know that as fact, as my windshield leaks at the overhead console. It has only done it once and Toyota told me to have pictures and they will see what the issue is, since it does not do it every rain. And the windshield is the original. No matter what everyone on here tries to believe Toyota is not perfect and everything pulled off that assembly plant (we'll past tense now) is not great.

 

You might want to check the seal up at the top. If it's original you may notice that it can push down. Use a really thin stiff piece of paper cardboard to slide it in between the cab and the seal and gently try to pull it up again where is is suppose to sit. I noticed it on mine and managed to get it to pop back up to where it is suppose to sit. No leak but fixed it anyway. I mean thin stiff paper. Cigarette packaging thickness. If it don't fix it then bring it in.

 

Man up and fix it yourself. If you can't seal a water leak on your own with a $2.49 tube of clear silicone from Wal-Mart you should sell your truck and get a Corolla.

 

when i was getn my windshield replaced in my 89 toyota truck a few years ago the guy that worked at the place said he replaces more ford and chevy truck windshields than any vehicles on the road

 

I just thought of a maybe easier trick to try too is using your shop vac on the outside of the windshield up at the top use the shop vac hose to suck the seal back up to where is is suppose to sit. Kind of difficult to do it with stiff paper but I did mine that way. Shop vac could make it a simple two second job. I pushed mine down accidentally waxing the truck. It's easy to flip it down if you touch it.

Yes but what if it's not coming around the glass ? There is probably a piece of sealant missing I'd probably still bring it in if it's leaking.

How is it sealed between the cab metal and the gasket? Is there sealant compound there? Is it glued to the cab? Never had one out so I don't know. To me it looked if that outer seal was pushed in like it was on my truck a hell of a lot of extra water would get in there and that is why I fixed it on mine.

 

I know that factory installed windshields leak less than replacement windshields. Replacement is simply not always done right.

Toyota has factory defects like every other manufacturer. I have at least one on my truck right now (factory paint defect). That doesn't change my assertion that a leaking windshield is most likely a replacement windshield, which I base on my own observation of how well replacement windshields are installed.
