My initial thought was to cut the drywall out and replace. Then thought I could repair it. Started by pulling off anything that was loose, then scraping and sanding. Then filled all the damage with a patching compound then did two skim coats of the compound you see here. Let it all set overnight and did a light sand in the morning. I was honestly surprised by how nice the walls came out. Primed and painted.

Yeah. Got a plumber buddy of mine coming over to start from scratch. When I showed him the picture he had the same reaction you did. I tore it all out last night so it's ready for him when he gets here.

Yeah. It's all ripped out now. Plumber coming tomorrow to start from scratch.

What pisses me off is I bought the house brand new. Had an inspector look it over and sign-off on everything. I don't know the first thing about plumbing. I show you guys a few pics of what's there and you let me know it's not right...

I'm retired but may go to work as a home inspector since apparently you don't need to know much. At least not in Georgia anyway.

So, more questions if you don't mine my ignorance.

This wire connected to the top of the power meter, it's a ground wire, correct?

What is this for? It is being routed from the meter, up the wall to the second story attic. Maybe for the fan/furnace?

    Any input is appreciated.

Guess since I'm a home owner now I can get some ideas in here. Though my home doesn't need much love fortunately.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Can't say I've ever seen anything like that. Do you know exactly what it goes to?

No I don't know what its going to. I see it routed up the wall to the second story rafter area. The only thing in the second story is the furnace/fan that might need a ground, but honestly...

Satellite TV ground wire? I think they piggy back off the electrical box ground some times. Is that a coax cable that goes through wall between the first and second floor?

Maybe there once was a satellite TV, but right now just have cable line from the poles that run through the neighborhood.

Yes there is also a coax cable also. That coax cable starts under the second story rafter (where the line from the neighborhood pole comes from) and is routed through the wall to a second story bedroom.

maybe what I thought was a ground wire is a bond that was used for the old swamp cooler that used to be on the roof...

That looks like a cable company/satellite ground wire.. climb up there and see if you can pull it out at the top.. if so, it wasn't connected to anything anyway and you can get rid of it.
