Sure ! Its a Tacoma - lots of potholes and ruts. What's your point ? Are you concerned the gun is going to fly onto the floor boards and 'go off' ?

I think a consideration should be what if some nutjob plows/rams into your car and the handgun goes mobile and now you can’t find it?

    Fair enough.

Sounds like you're a shitty gun carrier.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses. :)

    Go off? no.

not be where I expect it if/when I need it (ie be insecure)? maybe.

or maybe I get into an accident. get tboned and rollover. gun flies out of the cupholder and ends up in the street... I'm unconscious and first responders don't see it. Now, I've just given a loaded gun to a random passerby.

My .38 fits pretty nicely shoved between the seat and the console, and while all the "learn to shoot left" is great, I'm still right handed, right hand dominant, and if I have a choice, I'd like to grab it with my right hand.

3 years ago I was in a situation, I was assaulted outside of a bar. I crawled to the truck (Silverado), got inside, and found myself with 2 choices. Reach for my pistol or my keys. My assailant was trying to rip me out of the truck through the driver's door, it was still open. His right arm was on my back window, the truck had a headache rack. I went for the keys, threw it in drive, and I nailed it. Dislocated the guys shoulder something fierce and was still spinning tire when I ran over his foot. I was shook up, it was raining, the tires were bald. 1/2 mile up the road there was a sharp bend, I never took my foot off the gas and I didn't make the bend. I hit 2 trees and put the truck on it's roof. Guys from the bar came running, this old boy made it to the woods and climbed a tree. When I was in the tree and had 4 people who really had it out for me we're looking for me, however, I remembered that my gun was still wedged between the truck seats, where I found it the next day at the impound yard. Had I left the gun in the cupholder, in plain sight with nothing to secure it, things may have gone a bit differently, especially if the branch didn't hold or the tree wasn't there. Not only would I have chanced giving the gun to my attackers (Lord knows everything else in the cab of the truck wound up on the road), but it would have been a heavy projectile that could have hit me in the head while I was crashing. Since then, I've quit drinking, I've quit fooling around with people's wives, and I've quit leaving anything unsecured in the cab of my truck whenever possible, especially my gun.

Now reading what I wrote, I wish there was a proper place to store it. Like a safe in the center console.

    This is AWESOME!

Good on ya for taking responsibility for your own saftey in the same manner any responsible American should.

Anyone who disagrees simply doesnt know how history works, or is at the least ignorant to the way of the world in 2018.

    CARRY ON!

Can't carry in Canada... Unless your job has to do with it.. Or its hunting season.

I don't mind it. Its nice. I have several firearms and all the licensing... But for me to carry a gun, I need to have a reason... You can't just waltz around with a gun here for self protection...

I can't even have my gun in the bush with me unless I have a seal to hunt something... And then I need to have the appropriate ammo as well..

I keep an axe in my truck. And it keeps me safe.... Works wonders...

You never know when there might be a tree in the road..

A little conspicuous but I applaud you for securing your pistol in a proper fashion. Mine usually stays on my hip but a secure, off body setup for long trips would be way more comfy.
And if law abiding gun owners were a problem......you'd know it. ;)

Another good option is the RTI/OSH G-Code holsters. This is what I used in my center console. The screws do show up from the outside of the console though if anyone is concerned with that.
It's nice to be able to remove/attach the holster to the wheel when needed.

Love my M&P .45.. Keep it in my side table next to my bed, great for home defense. When I hike however, my .44 Super Blackhawk with Bear load is by my side haha.. I carry that in my side holdster.

I've carried a firearm since 1972. I've not had the need to use deadly force in all that time, but there have been a few "questionable" occurrences that could have turned and required the use of a firearm to either stop an individual, scare the individual away, calm a situation, or the very "last" thing I'd want to do, use that firearm to cause great harm or death to an individual. Carrying that firearm comes with not only common sense but knowing a firearm, used improperly can now make YOU a criminal. You MUST know the repercussions of using that firearm and the serious problems it could cause for you. I do hold to the saying of, "Better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6," but I also have the thought of the "Civil Liabilities" that will come with "Criminal Liabilities" when some low life, ambulance chasing lawyer, convinces a family member they can make "millions" with a wrongful death lawsuit. Many people don't think about what happens after the fact. Once you pull that trigger there's no whistling back that round.
We all need the ability to protect ourselves and our families. Those who "think" that by banning firearms will solve the problem are living in a fantasy world. Criminals are NOT going to turn in their weapons, they'd now have a complete upper hand. All a firearm ban is going to do is make MILLIONS of legal gun owners, myself included, ILLEGAL gun owners and criminals.

All one needs to do is go to heyjackass.com and look at the stats on Chicago's gun crime. You know, Chicago, the place with some of the STRICTIST gun laws! Tell me those "victims" in Chicago didn't need a firearm!

I did a very similar Kydex holster in my older vehicle, I opted for the magwell to point toward the firewall which in my opinion allowed for a crossdraw type movement. Might have to dig up that holster for a repeat in my new truck! thanks for the write up!

I enjoy running mine suppressed, my form 4 for a Griffin Optimus was approved in March, so far the only 2 hosts (for 9mm pistols) that I've run are my M&P 40 (converted to 9) and a Polymer 80 Glock that I built.
    What can do you run?
