NO, get an Odyssey or just get another wet cell if you don't have large electrical loads (you don't currently)

 

I'm getting a winch once I get that bumper together. What's wrong with Optimas?

 

Over priced and not really that amazing

 

Optima's quality has been slipping steadily since around 2013. I had an Optima in our boat and in a Ford Exploder but they were both older and did just fine. They're really expensive for AGM batteries and they're weird form factor makes them harder to secure. The Odyssey's have better CCA and are the same cell technology. I've had friends that just fry Optima after Optima as of late.

 

Also for winching you really need a bigger alt, a battery can only help so much when you're pullin 450-600amps

 

odyssey was my choice. but im still rocking my toyota battery lol

 

Hell I complain about OEM batteries, but the original factory battery in our 2000 Merc E320 only died about 2-3 years ago. It lasted a good 14-15 years.

 

Nothing wrong with a wet cell for normal use. I have a Toyota "TrueStart" in my cruiser. It doesn't do anything hardcore and always starts fine. It is coming up on 6 years of service though so I'm contemplating replacing it soon.

 

@BartMaster1234 good news is if you can find a 1994-1998 (I think) non supercharged Jaguar XJ6 you can steal its 120amp alt and it bolts right into our 4bangers and you just need to make a little conversion harness for the two wires coming out the back. That's what I run

Is that the same alternator that someone sells on here? I forgot his name. It uses the same alternator case as us.

No problem with finding a Jag at my local yard. There are tons of them.

 

We took care of that car, it was garaged for its whole life. I am surprised the battery lasted so long. It had a date code of 1999 on it so it is indeed the original one.

for the v6 we can use the GM 140 amp i belive idk what the model is called but @Blackdawg did it on Frankenstein

I think @BamaToy1997 sells those high output alternator upgrades? Can't find the thread on it. He did a group buy a while ago.
