209 TACOS - B/S and shenanigans

They will tuck higher and closer at 20. Trying to step on the flat part isn’t recommended, those are for my dogs. I keep telling my wife to pretend the flat part isn’t there and just step on the top of the outside tube. At 20 it will be more a of a toe step, 10 will give you more area for your foot.

 

I was forsure gunna get every thing powder coated.

After talking to @Twizted and doing some reading. Im starting to consider some sort of rattlecan. Maybe some bedliner type stuff

 

Soooo weld on vs bolt on? Lol

 

I wouldn’t spend the extra cash. Bedliner will suffice plus you can touch up as needed

Bed liner likes to peel...

I just did self-etching primer, and some good Rustoleum satin paint.

 

I like the idea of spraying primer more than i do roughing shit up with sandpaper prior to painting.

Seems like you can just wash the skids and go straight to self-etching-primer, let it dry and then go to town with whatever paint

 

I scuffed with a scotch bright pad first.

 

Like anything sliders are meant for the purpose we need. I like to go off road but not tackling the Rubicon, and 99% of my 19k worth of mileage so far has been driving on the streets. My need is protection in a tight spot that I am trying to avoid in the first place!

BAMF makes a great product for sure! So would you etch prime and paint or bed liner? Bed liner peels more than flat rattle can?

 

Its all in the preparation of the surface. Anything will peel if the surface isnt prepped well.

Use coarse steel wool, denatured alcohol then prime it for added adhesion.

After that, paint that sucka!

 

Same. As mine is a DD I don't need something too fancy. I was actually looking into Chassis Unlimited's weld on slider kit.

Yeah, except mine are welded on. They were already on the truck when i bought it, so theres a chance they were custom fabbed to be identical to these. Or demello once offered these in weld on. Will never know forsure

I personally dont like the square ones, but they were also cut and moved down about 3/4"? Basically instead of a weld on all 4 sides of the square tubing theres now only welds on 3 sides, kinda hard to explain but logic would tell me their strength was compromised. I tried to lift my truck up on them once with a jack and they were creaking like a mofucka so i got scared and backed off before i got a wheel off the ground lol

If we start at the frame of the truck, we have the frame plates, the "legs/arms", the main tube, many more "arms/legs" and then the outer tube..

the 3 "legs/arms" connect to the main tube of the sliders to the frame plates are only welded on the bottom/sides.
