I’m going to talk to Toyota and make them fix everything that has happened as a result of the frame replacement. Talk about stripped bolts... they took a torch to my plate bumper to “elongate” the mounting holes, stripped every stud while smashing it on with a sledge hammer, so now my bumper is welded to the frame because when I got it back, 1 1/2 bolts were holding it on...

they pinched the loom to the brake lights, but I caught that when I took the bed off to weld bamf shock towers on and install the ato shackle flip

Lower ball joint w/steering stop for the spindles were on the wrong side, so there was no steering stop to hit the lca, and my steering rack is fried.

Countless bolts weren’t tourqued, including the engine mounts, which loosened enough for my engine to flop off its mounts. Grommets weren’t reinstalled into the floor of the cab so water and road grime made a nice sludge layer under the carpet.

The breather tube for the front 4wd actuator was zip tied in the wrong place and was rubbing against the alternator which in turn put a hole in it, which in turn filled the actuator with water, which fried the 4wd. I fixed that by ordering the motor and rebuilding the entire thing, only to have it fry on me again because the corrosion on all the terminals is so bad. Surprised it worked at all.

I will need a bigger truck at some point because the work I’m doing is picking up, and the scale is increasing. The Tacoma, for what it is, has been great. It just isn’t big enough to safely move some upcoming projects. I’m only considering the ram 2500 because it can tow the moon, it comes in a reg cab with a manual transmission and transfer case, and has an 8’ bed. That loadout is the least ugly of the other big brands. Also the cheapest... wtf are trucks so expensive for?

I’m keeping the Tacoma as a fun vehicle. It’s had a hard life working here on island... It’s worth too little to sell lol

Sounds like almost all the problems you are having are due to the dealerships work done during the frame replacement not necessarily Toyotas fault. 1st off remember that most every other company would never replace your frame on a 10 yo truck and before any of you Ford, Dodge or Jeep guys say anything I have plenty of those 5 yo trucks here that I can not sell the frames to due to rust!!! 2nd it does sound like you will need to get a bigger truck for your work. Especially if you are going to carrying that shit in your truck

That would be him! He really impressed me at a time when I had about given up on ever going back there. They now have me for a few more visits until my warranty runs out at least. But if I ever need something more serious than an oil change, I will be requesting him first.

Just keep in mind Dodge detunes the Cummins to 650lb/ft of torque when mated to the 6 speed manual. 650 is prob more than enough for what any of us would ever do, but the manuals don't get the 900 or whatever number they are up to these day.

Hey so myself and some others are trying to get a Dorset caves / Freedlyville Quarry group trip going some weekend roughly in the middle of September. If anyone here has info or is interested heres the link below to that thread!

Fairly short notice for a group ride, but Im hoping to keep this to a simple weekend trip for those of us in the greater NE area!

Oh, thank goodness he didn't say anything about GM so that must mean my Sierra won't rust at all.
