It will probably come back up quickly. This looks like a panic from the report today, not a serious problem with the company.

 

Now is probably a good time to buy FB if anyone was thinking about it.

 

I just recently got into the stock market, dabbling with this stuff myself. I have a employer matched 401k with fidelity so I opened a fidelity brokerage account. What sites, classes, and resources do you recommend to learn more about how to effectively manage your investments and trade stocks?

 

I have been getting into it a lot more lately. I have read several books, if I could recommend one, it would be “A Random Walk Down Wall Street.” It is well written, and actually entertaining, but it gives a great background on just about everything. Also, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” is good, not about the market but provides broader and somewhat abstract investing advice.

 

Kinda hard to grow much more than 1/3 of the world population

 

I question the validity of this claim as well.


Earnings reports mean nothing to me these days. Sometimes a stock will go up or down based on earnings. Typically you think it will do one thing or the other, but JB Hunt trucking beat earnings by .10 EPS and they are down 1.55% today. So I don't think the stock market is very logical. It's the wild west out here and only a few people know or have access to what is going on.

 

When a few large "advisors" can influence the entire market... yeah, it doesn't mean anything

 

OTM for big risk big reward is what I've been doing lately, not so much luck so far. Only a couple I've been able to flip for a profit. The rest expired. Sad times.

 

It looks like some tech bubbles are bursting, I wonder how bad it’s going to get..

I should have put all of my money into FB after that bad day they had. It’s on its way up to where it was after just a week!

huge bankruptcy gamble, but after losing 90% in less than a week... big upside. Their business model changes indicate they don't really want to go bankrupt (they just seem really good at getting there)... maybe acquisition? Who knows!

well today might be a good day to do it, they're down 15% on class action lawsuit news. Sucks for the investors who dumped their money into it, but I don't see why people should get special treatment for their poor decision making. I bought some yesterday, wish I had bought today. Can't predict the news though. I knew what I was getting into.

 

That company was almost $2,000 a share 6 months ago?!

 

That’s the adjusted price for the reverse split which happened a week or two ago.

I wouldn’t invest anything in HMNY, although I’m biased due to my huge losses via their dilution.

They need cash bad. Very likely that they’ll have to R/S again or try to have another offering - either one would crush the stock AGAIN.

There’s much better companies to gamble your money on.
