    ^ Good choice.
I'm a big fan of the GT-R & one of my best friends own a r32 Skyline in the states. Beautiful white Skyline on Volks that stays in the garage only. I've known him to have had it for 4 years. He has drive it 4x and started it up 10-12x in those 4 years. It is his collection piece and he has to still pay insurance on it.

GT-R is my dream car but insurance itself on it KILLS the car IMHO.
Then the cost to own one is sky high. I'd be happy with just a decked out S2000. Then a ton of $$$$ in the bank.

    x2! :drool::drool::drool:

However, for the cost of probably 5 GTRs, I dunno if its worth it. Additionally, how many people are going to cough up that kind of money when you could be driving just about any Ferrari or Lambo you want, or save just a little bit more and take home a the mother of all porsches.

Are you crazy!? There is no way in hell I would take a 370Z over a GT-R. For that matter I wouldnt own the 370Z in the first place. With that said, my neighbor owns a white GT-R, and trust me when I say it is worth every bit of the wait. I would almost take it over the other next door neighbors Ford GT.

if she really wants a gtr then you only have two choices, R34 or R32.

I live in a pretty nice neighborhood, but I dont think thats it. I've noticed that most people with an abundance of money (at least in my neck of the woods) seem to buy very reasonable cars. I just so happen to live next to a hand full of auto enthusiast. There is two murcielago's, a unimog, flying saucer, diablo, the gt-r and GT all within three blocks. It can be quite a show sometimes.

And yes, I agree. The looks of the 370z do not appeal one bit to me.

imho, GTRs are overhyped...keep in mind, i've never driven one. Looks: I saw one in person a year ago at an autoshow, and thought it looked dated. Performance (from what I've read): For the money, I'd take a Cayman, nicely equipped, and still have $ in the bank (if I had that kind of disposable income). It sounds like the OP made up his mind already...OP, post pics.

I dont know why everyone thinks that just because a car is more expensive, it will be through the roof on insurance. This is definitely NOT the case. I have been working for USAA for 5 years now and can prove this theory wrong almost on a daily basis.

I just ran a quote to replace my tacoma with the GT-R and my monthly premium went up $35. So with my taco i pay $550 every 6 months, for a GT-R it would be $760 ($126 per month).......

And I am 24 years old, married, with 100,000/300,000 liability and 500 ded's.

Insurance is not even a factor unless youre THAT tight.... which you wouldnt consider a GT-R if you were THAT tight.

USAA doesnt give its employees any discount. The only perk we get by working there is the opportunity to HAVE insurance through USAA (which i would get anyway because my dad is retired AF, and it extends down to dependents). In fact, if i were an officer in any branch, it would be even better.

and just because you have not seen one that low doesnt mean it doesnt exist. Like i said, i can prove this theory wrong almost on a daily basis. I dont add high end cars ALL day, but at least 1 per 8 hour shift. Some are outrageous, but most are extremely affordable.

In all honesty, price/type of vehicle is a very small part of the insurance equation...... Your location alone (territory, state, city ect) has more influence on your premiums than any other factor.

Insurance companies base their rates off of their loss ratio. If you are 1 of 50 members of USAA in your city, and 10 of you get into an at-fault accident in a year, your rates will skyrocket...... whereas if you were to live in a large city with 1500 USAA members and 50 of them got into an at-fault accident, rates would hardly budge.

Im not saying that a GT-R isnt more expensive than a normal car. Im simply stating that it is still very affordable.

^ I've heard this since '05. Nonetheless, it looks like it will be a front (instead of mid-) engine, hatchback.

    Indeed she is.

I'm not huge on the 370's styling but it's a very nice ride you got there. I still hope Nissan will see the light and bring back a slighly more modernized 240-280z :p

quote=mjohn617;1837217]Damn...I knew I was going to get this response! My wife is the one who wants the GT-R, I am leaning towards the 370 because it is half the price. The interior of the GT-R was not impressive...and it seems like owning one is over the top for me. Again, it is going to be my wifes car and she is buying it, so it really doesn't matter to me cause I will still be driving my truck to work everyday.[/quote]

Sooooo... whats your wifes name?............... Jk man what a lucky girl. To be quite honest unless she knows how to drive ultra sports cars, I would not allow her to get that. She could easily wrap that thing around a tree in no time, Unless she is reserved and has respect for that cars unreal capabilities. Tell her to take baby steps and get the 370z. plenty of power for a chick.

Wow missed this thread. But, this should be no question. GT-R. Sure she'll love the 370 though.
