I'm pretty stoked. There's a chance I'll be camping out to Hidden Falls this weekend with a small group!

I would say check out the Capitol then go over to the Bob Bullock museum. You'll be drained.

I had fun with Central Texas Powersports last week. A few weeks back, one of the fans on the Goldwing kicked on while I was in downtown Bastrop. There was a loud chattering, so I shut the bike off, (was in the act of parking anyway), let it cool down, and drove it home. As the bike is under warranty, I took it in to CTPS to find out exactly what the issue was, and it was a small chunk of wood that had become lodged behind the fan, pushing it into the radiator, (I think I mentioned this here on the forum before).

So it wasn't under warranty, but was covered on my bike insurance, the comprehensive portion. They get the parts in, fix it, and I go to get it on Thursday. The wife drops me off, the bike is outside, I look it over, and notice the lower cowl seems loose. Investigating further, I notice the mechanic left a screw out. I walk in and tell them the bike looks good, but I'd like to have all the parts back that I brought it in with; the ones not damaged by the chunk of wood, anyway. The mechanic comes out to check, clarifies that I can indeed, see with my own two eyes the problem, and goes back in the shop a couple of times to get the screw. Or, a screw, but more on that later... He puts the screw in place, and walks back in the shop, and not once during that whole time does he say a word to me or the service manager I had been working with. I ask her what his problem is, and she said she had been pushing him that afternoon, and was prolly mad. Hmmm... I didn't want the guy to kiss my ass, but a simple, "sorry, missed that" would have gone a long way.

So the next day, I'm switching my GPS mount on the Wing, and to do that, I have to take some of the trim off. That's when I found the second part he left off:

    upload_2018-8-7_10-35-23.jpg

This pisses me off more than the screw he left off; as these two clips are about 5" apart, and there is no way the guy didn't know he was missing one. I dropped the service manager a note, with the picture, and told her that she needed to get that part to me, I wasn't taking the time out of my day to drive over there, especially after the mechanic was such a tool.

Circling back to the missing screw story, while switching that GPS mount, as small screw dropped when I was putting the shelter back on the handlebar. When screws drop, don't they always disappear into the great beyond inside the vehicle? I ended up taking off some of the plastics on the front of the bike, and noticed that the guy hadn't put in the screw that came out of the bike originally, but evidently one he had scrounged up, (one of these is not like the other...):

    upload_2018-8-7_10-41-33.jpg

Basically, a brand new Wing, hasn't even been in for the first service yet, at 4K miles, and I have a mechanic putting in whatever parts he can find in the shop, instead of what he removed earlier as part of the service. Nice...
