i have a small floor jack and stands I'll be bringing. To get the air tank back in I need to pull the rear passenger wheel and liner and jack the tank up on a cradle. It's already been in there and the mount holes are drilled so that part should go quickly. Won't need either after that.

What time are you guys getting started? I was waiting to say anything cause I didn’t want to flake again but I have the morning free at least and this is only 10 minutes from me.

I could bring extra stuff that might be useful; 6 ton stands, 3 ton jack, creeper, 10x10 pop-up, bag of battery op tools, torque wrenches and breakers. I doubt I have anything good that you guys don’t already have in some form.

The only project I have going currently is finishing the wiring on my pop&lock. So i’ll be available to lend a hand if someone needs it.

Thanks for all the help guys, I needed every bit, from long fingers to spare hands. I'll be adding some loom to the air lines to protect them from abrasion and would like to better secure the qr in the bed but getting the tank re-stuffed and connected to the cab was great. The rising heat in the afternoon combined with the bad air from the fires and a lack of sleep the night before to turn me into a pumpkin by 4:30. I thought that some hydration, AC, and a relaxing drive would sort me out but only made it to Vacaville before bad traffic and eye irritation forced me to stop for an overdue nap. By about 7 I was back on the road and the traffic cleared before I hit 12 and from then up through the valley of the moon it truly was relaxing. Thanks again, I look forward to the next get together. Even though mine isn't going the overland route I definitely enjoy seeing what others do and how it's accomplished.

@bagleboy Glad you made it home okay! My wife jokes that the bed size air mattress should always be in the truck for moments like you described, and i’m beginning to agree! I might even start bringing it to work when it cools down so I can take naps at lunch.

@2BeersPlease How’s the ride now on #650? Did you spend much time adjusting the height or did you guys nail it in one try?

@TOP TACO Did your wife notice? J/k If you are anything like me she isn’t just smarter than that she’s smarter than you.

I managed to get my pop&lock finished by using the Blue/Pink and Blue/Black wires, which means the instructions should have said ‘2009 and up use...’, instead of ‘2010’. It’s still not 100% theft proof but much more peace of mind when anything is back there that I actually want.

 

I was also wondering what you guys thought about using the angle grinder for the cut? I thought I heard someone say they used a dremel, but the dremel I have is so small it wouldn’t hold a disc strong enough to cut that. If there are larger dremels or angle grinders that can rotate to a similar position wouldn’t that allow for better positioning and control?

Just curious really, I have no plans to cut any of my body panels, yet. But I am looking to get more familiar with fabricating tools like that.

 

That's why I keep a hammock in my truck at all times. The wife didn't notice, but she kept asking me what I did to my truck this time? I did hang the swing out on it after she left for work this morning. Trucks at home and I'm working out of town til Saturday. I imagine I'll be getting a phone call anytime now...

 

Hopefully that’s enough time for her to cool off, or worst case you are sleeping in the hammock for a while.

Just reclined the drivers seat and I was out like a light. If I'd had a hammock I probably wouldn't have bothered with it.

 

Needed a little more height. Stopped by Charlie's yesterday and took care of that. I'll have to get a little trail time to see how they really feel. On the road, the difference is slight but noticeable.

Noticeably less, but still there. My put my sway bar back on with extended links.
