Before I did any cutting I did a search to see if anyone had posted this mod and did not find your post. Because I found nothing, I picked up a used cap at a salvage yard cause I was afraid of making a bad cut and didn’t know what to expect. As you probably know there were a lot of reinforcement rids in there. I see you have some sealant in there. What did you use cause the ones I tried to use all oozed out so I used two layers of wood workers double stick tape? I also see a small white button. Is that a light button by chance?

Got tired of our fishing rods sliding all over in the bed but I didn't want to drill into the topper to get them up to the roof. Figured out a great way to mount a rod holder setup up and out of the way. Plenty of room to use my Waterport and can still access the bed through my side windows easily. Really happy with the functionality of my brainstorming project! Needed a 1/2" spacer to clear the inside edge of the topper, added some rubber bumpers to the top of the steel brace and the slight flex angle against the inside of the window frame holds the system in place perfectly, no bouncing around. Easy to remove (one bolt each) if I want them out of the way for some reason.

Solar panel between your rifle cases? This is the fact setup I’m looking to do currently. Trying to figure out the second batter and wiring

Been thinking of doing two of them. I have a case on my passenger side, thought about one on top of each other with the top one being able to be “unfolded” flipped out and setup while at camp. But this wouldn’t help me at all while driving. Hmmmmm

where did you get the foam rod holders? that idea is perfect minus the fact I have 1 pole which doesn't break down :(

I found them locally in a Mills Fleet Farm store... they can be had through Cabela's or several other online retailers. The brand is "Boat Buckle". A little spendy compared to the plastic/foam Berkeley rod holders, but I didn't like how those were constructed... I like how this one straps in real securely with the velcro and it was flexible enough to account for the mounting hole locations not matching up perfectly with the steel strap I used. Could always go with a solid strap and drill your own holes as well.

Inclined toward new tonneau, but too many other priorities for money right now. So I cheaped out and got an inexpensive 25 gal. lockable tool chest and secured it with a bike lock... Will see if it's too tempting for passersby. Nothing expensive in there. It will have to do for a few months. (Kids and their incessant demands for "birthday presents" and "school clothes" and "food" and "electricity"... really cramping my style.) If I end up liking the chest and the extra crap I can keep it in, I will get a truck bed toolbox and use this box in the garage. If I end up missing the tonneau, I'll get a new one and this toolbox will fit underneath it.

When I saw your rig, I thought of the rural repeater towers around here. Most require OR capability and hiking boots. I noted your call sign, checked FCC ULS, and wrote my reply. So, no we've never met. Glad to meet you now.

    It's Taco Tuesday!

Not today but over the weekend. Upgraded my membership here at ClubTaco. I took my 2007 and traded it in for a 2014.

2007 was starting to show her age, with faded paint, wheels, and a few other items. I found myself a 2014 with less than 35,000km on the odometer. The truck was owned by an employee at a small town Toyota dealership, used almost exclusively for in-town commuting and the occasional cottage drive. Basically like buying a brand new vehicle in my opinion!

Nice to have some of the feature upgrades re: backup camera, audio integration, and a full-size back seat! The vehicle drives super smoothly as well. I am a happy camper! Any tips n' tricks for a 2014 model I should know about??!!

Some photos of the old truck, followed by some pics of the upgrade. Happy that almost all of my accessories also fit right over (why I wanted to stick with Gen2).
