I don’t have any awesome pictures, but I did notice the same issue with the nuts in the frame. Does anyone know the thread pitch for those so I can seal them up?

I had a lot of dust in my bed this weekend, but most is not from the gfc.

I sealed the tailgate yesterday after my trip. The bed rails were already siliconed underneath prior to install as well as the front bed corners.

I added some tailgate seal at the bottom of the gfc space frame where the rear hatch seals. This is the only dust intrusion so far that I can attribute to the gfc.

I am going after the big offenders first. Some dust intrusion is ok, I just want a little less. I may seal the bedside cubbies.

The bulb seal is very cushy, you could run a single grouped bundle through it, and I think probably have no leakage, but add a dab of silicone for peace of mind.

That’s just one way. Another way would be to drill a hole in the front panel and use a rubber grommet with silicone to seal.

Or use a marine bulkhead fitting.

Or a mil spec bulkhead canon plug.

I searched and found that according to a post earlier in the thread, 5/16-18 bolts can be used to seal those up.

Just saw my first GFC on a qs taco sleeping at a community college parking lot. Looks slick! The interior only access makes it feel much more secure than a traditional rtt

I got the email, i feel like i won the lottery! (When in reality i put out $5k 6 months ago ;))

Has there been any recent discussion about ventilation fans? I noticed that was not an option they offered in the options email. (I also posed this question to the folks at GFC, will share their response)

Has anyone in the North Carolina or South Carolina area received their GFC? We are supposed to get ours in the winter and are trying to plan out some details. We would love to see one in person!

@henryrose Please let me know what you find out. I just got the email as well (9/10 build date) and am curious as to why the ventilation fan is missing. I was planning on getting the fan, lights, and fitted sheets. I'll be waiting to see their implementation for other upgrades like storage, awning, solar, insulation, etc.

A month plus production time is a long time to wait, but I can't help but be excited.

    It's DLX son!
I think initial feedback from most of us when we found out the specs of the fan (solar powered only - no provision for running off of a battery or 12V source) was lukewarm.

Only person I know who got it was @whitetaco16 and I seem to remember it didn't knock his socks off.

Combined with feedback that the small side windows and large rear opening has been providing great venting the GFC team may have decided the fan option wasn't something they were going to continue offering.

I'm going to wait and see if I need one. The idea of cutting a hole in the roof will probably help dissuade me.

I'm interested in anything that will help reduce the inevitable moisture from winter trips in the PNW. In reality the heater kit is probably a bigger deal for that objective.

Welcome to TW. If you don’t happen to see one before, I’m in NY but I’ll be in Smoky Mountain National Park in Oct (pending) and I will definitely be at Overland Expo East in Asheville NC in Nov.

I cancelled the fan on my build as well. Pretty sure I’m going to install a MaxxAir or Fanststic fan when mine comes in. Obviously i don’t have it too look at yet but reports are that these fans are too “deep” to allow the GFC to close. However i figure if i put it off centered i can close it with one square cushion removed not a big deal at all for me as I normally just sleep in a bag anyway and plan on packing it up when I lower the camper top. I can’t see when it’d be an issue. Obviously it adds a little height to the GFC as well. Like i said I’m gonna measure everything before cutting a 14” square hole....

I've been able to wait patiently up to this point, but it's really getting difficult now that I've just sold my tonneau cover and bedmat .

Anyone else doing a bedrug with theirs? That's my plan.

Hopefully this thing arrives around next week like they anticipated.

No bed rug for me. I need to be able to pressure wash the mud, blood and funk out of it easily.

We’ve got a bed rug in our existing snugtop. It definitely makes for a nicer living area. With the GFC we’ll be up out of the bed more, but I imagine we’ll keep it in.

They can be hosed out though, right? Anyway, it's mostly dust here so if anything I believe it'll help seal the bed.

That's what I'm hoping for. A nicer living are will definitely help getting the GF to join on occasion .

I think the bed rug was a key factor in making my wife start to love camping in the truck. It also seems to help with dust.

I have not hosed mine. I do tend to put a tarp down if I’m hauling something very messy. I was worried that it would start to smell funny after a western Washington winter in which it stayed at least partially damp for a couple of months, but that has not been an issue.
