IIRC it was almost noon. 6 hour time difference. I am totally fucked when I come back as I am working nights this month so so will be way off what I need to be timewise.

Nice work. Slug guns will make them stop moving right quick.

Ha, exactly.. in all fairness, that was the first buck I shot w a bow and I shouldered him a bit so it wasn't the best shot. But I followed a blood trail for a while.. he ended up roughly 500 yards from the stand but he looped back once so in reality he probably managed to run 700-1000 yards before running out of steam. A slug and that doesn't happen.

    That's a nice one too...

I had another showing up frequently earlier in the season about that size but never in a good enough spot to get a good shot on him. I passed on several does but NOVA really wants you to shoot does. There is a late doe season from Mar to April in addition to gun season and early/late bow season. I know I will have the opportunity to take a doe when home in September and I may depending on what my trail cam pics look like when I get home.

I normally take one mature doe and one mature buck that gives me all the meat I need and keeps a good population

Agreed. 1 or 2 is all I need in a season.. I should have taken a doe last season and will this season. There are a ton of does near my place.

Where are you hunting? Down near Charlottesville I assume? I was looking at buying a property strictly for fun and hunting along the 81 corridor. Surprisingly I have found some fairly cheap, nice properties..

Any of you in a grey third gen SR5 V6 with CA plates and a black American flag sticker in NOVA? I've been behind the same one twice in two days on my way to work.

There is always Hunters for the Hungry if you get an extra one. Although the guys I go with we usually share the extra meat with whoever only got one deer.

AT or MT? Help me decide NOVA before I actually test drive and buy a Tacoma... I'm leaning AT but from what I gathered the MT doesn't have the gear searching issue and is a bit more spunky. My main concern of a MT is the traffic that is present in NOVA and the gearing for highway speeds - to get low 20's on the interstate in the AT would be nice. I know I am not buying a truck for MPG's but the higher, the better.

I have had many MT cars, mostly VW & Audi's but never a MT truck. Closest thing to a MT truck was my dads 89 Ford Bronco II I drove for a few months before getting my first car. A manual truck seems weird to me unless its smaller and I guess the Tacoma is - at least compared to what I am used to. My truck ownership has consisted of a 2004 F-150, 2003 F-250 King Ranch (hence the name), 2004 Silverado Z71 and 2012 Silverado Z71 (this truck had the gear issue too and would constantly downshift on the highway for the slightest inclines - once I had it tuned all those issues went away and I actually really like this truck except its not 4wd).

So give me pro's and cons of each...

NOVA traffic is AIDS, and I only have to drive in it 5 times a year.

I've also heard of rev hang being an issue with manual Tacomas. I'd say just go with AT to make commuting easier.

    Also, I'm another Audi/Volkswagen to Tacoma person. I had a '97 A4 2.8 5mt, '00 A6 2.7t 6mt, a '08 A4 2.0T and a '16 Jetta 1.8t 5mt (Supposed to be a commuter, I was putting too many miles on my Audis.)

I'm leaning AT but want to test drive both..

Man I love some VW/Audi! I have had a 02 VR6 GTI, 04 R32 (biggest regret was getting rid of that car - I loved it and had it modded just the way I wanted it. That's my biggest regret so far in life, ha), 02 Audi TT and 2011 GTI. I want to get a Golf R in the next few years... They are making crazy amounts of power now and the AWD system rocks.
