1st gen parts/performance?

i got a couple hundred bucks i could blow on something for my truck, any ideas???

 

Save a couple hundred more and buy a Valentine One.

what do you have done already? if you havent done it yet...deckplate mod. only about $15.

 

ive got, drop in k&n fliter, 3in leveling kit in the front, 1in add a leaf that isnt on, and a flow master 40 series. its also cut to the end of the cab and exits before the passenger rear tire.

can i use a hole saw? and where can i get that cap? will i notice a diffirence?

 

Definitely sounds meaner and a bit more power. I just traced the deck plate with a silver sharpie, then cut the hole with a jig saw and finished trimming with a dremel. Its really easy.

Any decent marine/boating supply place. Try West Marine. There are many in the LA area, two in Newport Beach, but search their store locator for whatever is easiest for you.

Go for a 4-inch. It wil be about $15. They also have stainless hardware for the nuts and screws.

one other question, since were talkin about the intake. i made the mistake of taking out the plastic lining on my truck and now i get chunks of dirt and mud in my air box. how can i fix this?

 

Uh...plastic...lining...wtf...where...bedliner? You mean inside the front fender/wheel well?

Go get another one from a Toyota recycler and put it in?

So the OEM intake is now right about where your tire kicks up shit all over it? I 've never had this apart, but that is how I understand it.

If you don't want to put the fender liner back in, maybe you could fab up something with a big hose clamp and some sheet metal as a deflector.

If you have the DP mod, the air will be coming in there, so that wold help you stop ingesting FOD throught the OEM intake, but if you go into muddy/wet areas, you want to close the DP, so that proabably won't work out too well.

I would put the liner back in or mod/reorient the end of it away from where it is now. You can also go play in the plumbing/ABS aisle at Home Depot for more ideas.

Or buy a snorkel.

 

I'd do the Deckplate mod, and maybe (since you have some money to spare) buy an off-road rear bumper.
