    Hey there,

I'm picking up my '18 TRD OR next month and am looking for suggestions on whether I should get any accessories other than what I've chosen so far.

    Bed mat
    Hard OEM tonneau cover
All season mats (come with the truck)

Rigid 30" LED light bar (I'll get about 2-3 hrs of sunlight per day during the ~7-8 months of winter)

    3M wrap (included in price)
Toyota dash cam (included in price)

TRD skid plate (I'll be doing my own oil changes, having the access panel will be handy)

I bought the PRO (china) grill & sensor garnish already.

5 x TRD PRO 16" rims & Cooper M&S tires (265/70R16) for winter. I'll use the stock rims & tires for spring & summer.

I'll be 538 miles (1076 miles round trip) from the nearest dealership, and 390 miles round trip from the nearest city. so I'm trying to plan this perfectly. I drive up to my new place the day after picking up the truck so there's no second chances. I likely won't see a dealership during my first year owning the truck.

Itll be used for rural driving (mud, gravel & snow) & hunting.

Is there anything else you guys would see as essential? A winch would be nice however wont be in the cards (yet).

    Thanks in advance!

Assuming you have all the off road recovery gear you need . I would have extra oil and filters on hand, and upgrade the battery just to start with .

Check. Aluminum oil filter housing is on it's way as well.

Good call on the battery, I'll look into it!

I cannot stress this enough, ^^^^ new battery is a must.

the off road recovery gear, I would get a winch, shovel, axe, recovery boards, straps, snatch block, etc...

This sounds like the ultimate getaway trip for a single guy . Is there a special reason you get to do this ?

Since you're doing oil filters might pickup a cleanable engine air filter so that you're not dependent on the delivery of a new one and can clean as needed.

Yep! It's for work, a 5 year commitment. Salary will double and it's a good escape/experience. Awesome hunting, no traffic and 0.1 person per square mile.

Looks like I'll have to buy some and YouTube how to change them. Thanks!! Didnt even think about filters.

Back to batteries, how many CCA should I get? I've never changed out a battery specifically for cold temps.

do a search for odyssey batteries here . There is a battery tray from the 2nd gen Tacoma also that will allow a larger battery in the truck . Also look up dual battery systems and onboard air compressors . @shakerhood can help with some of this for the tray etc .

The Battery Tray from a 2nd Gen with Tow Package will allow a 27F series Battery to fit. Odyssey Batteries are awesome, the one in my car is 10 years old, been completely discharged a few times and is still going strong!

I had an Odyssey in my 5th gen 4Runner, it was a 31M-PC2150 and I used a Pelfrey battery cage, no complaints either. Dual battery setups have their positives and negatives like anything, kind of depends on your use of the vehicle. My personal experience was using the largest group size Odyssey I could fit and I didn't have to worry about any of the dual battery relays, solenoids and monitoring systems.

I am thinking you are right as the other one seems to fit a stock 1995 to 2018 Tacoma

Nice battery for sure, you might want to see if there is a group buy going on here to save a few bucks

I gotta ask, what are you doing ? Doesn't gotta be specific. Oil, trapping, wildlife management ect because it sounds interesting

I’m curious as well... that’s just me!

I am a union pipefitter by trade and know a lot of people who travel to Alaska for big jobs as well as the powerhouse and nuke shut downs throughout the year(s).
