Baffles me that people in 2018 don't have a computer

Keep in mind that tablets and phones these days tend to take the place of computers and laptops. There’s not much a tablet/phone can’t do for the average person.

 

Not to mention phones cost as much as a laptop.

 

I emailed yesterday with 04B04 read file. No big deal either way. I was just wondering if it was still available.

I have actually, or even loaner kits where we ship you a preconfigured laptop and cable, flash the truck, send the laptop and cable back when you're done (if you just want a flash).

What's most surprising to me isn't the people who don't have a computer, but the large number of people who only have Macs

 

Mac guy here, thus my purchase of a cheap tune-dedicated winbook.

 

So what exactly is a flash? Just the most updated version put into the truck?

 

That's because Macs don't get attacked as much.

 

Flash is slang for reprogramming the cpu. Your flashing the file to the trucks computer.

How did you guys do the 04B04 ECU flash yourself? Can someone provide the TSB with instructions how to flash it please.

Shouldn't be surprising at all these days. Look at how fragmented and problematic Windows STILL is, even after all these years. With how seamless Apple products integrate together, its not surprising at all that people only run Macs. The ONLY reason I have a Windows computer is because certain tuning/programming platforms are stuck in the old days of running god awful Windows. Most new programs, or "apps" as the kids call it, seem to support both Windows and Mac OS.

 

One one of them will work. Tech stream will not allow you to flash the wrong file. One is for 18+ the other is for 16-17 IIRC.
