DANG! I hope I can make some money back on a welder after I pick one up after we get a house. Gonna start small and do CMC's etc and then possibly make custom armor for our trucks.

I think I'll just DIY a brake press. 2 ton Bottle jack in a frame should do plenty. Maybe two if I can't get a good power distribution over enough area.
Eventually I want to build a CNC router/cnc plasma table. Then things can really take off and I may open my own One Stop Toyota Shop. I set myself a Five year time frame to decide if I want to venture into running my own business.

Yeah. My biggest thing is the racks these days. They've all stopped progressing the utility development of them. With a CNC plasma cutter all peices could be tab and slot indexed for at home welders to assemble or done in shop.

Everything could be a diy weld kit and would save on production times. Few places do it.

I did welding in my Machining school. State Technical College of Missouri has the areas Industry leaders convene to say what they want in the curriculum and a lot of shops want us to be able to do basic welding. So I'm decent in Stick, MIG, TIG and Acetylene Torch Welding, Braising and Cutting. Also can use a plasma cutter.

    Thanks. Me too.

Been researching building my own CNC plasma table as well. I have a niece that want to help me. She busted me watching YT vids and thinks they are cool. (she is 4).

I bought one of those cheap HF welders. My welds held(just welded a few spots on a metal table), but looked like dog shit

Welding is a great job. I love every field I've worked in. And if you're willing to relocate, and hunt the money, you can make a real good living

A buddy of mine from high school went and did the underwater welding in the Gulf(we grew up 70 miles from the beach) and made great money.

I did commercial diving for some time. I actually ended making more money inland. Did some underwater welding. A full time under water welder makes considerably more, for obvious reasons.

I'll take my pay cut for a roof over my head and a rolley chair

In my 20's, I saw the Atlantic, Pacific, and Gulf within a month's time. I stuck my foot in the water just to say I had
