I don't believe so. My answer is based on knowing how manual transmissions work after rebuilding a few.

Would you also know if it's normal for the shifter to take 1-2 seconds sometimes before it goes in gear on down shift? Example: 4>3 or 3>2. No grinding just slight delay for shifter to slot in gear.

Yes you have to wait while they synchro matches the rpms. Double clutching will help.

How many of you guys shift to 1st or reverse while still rolling (less than 1mph) slightly in the opposite direction of the gear your are going in? I do this sometimes in parking lots and if I need to get out of the way real quick. I wonder if it is bar for the transmission to shift like this.

All the time, no worries. It won't go if your going to fast, just don't force it. The additional stress is on the clutch when you release going in the opposite direction of the gear you're in. Again, no worries just don't be going to fast.

    It's all good

I shift into first while moving all the time. I’m also guilty of the opposite direction thing. I’ve done this in all the manual cars/trucks I’ve driven. I don’t know how much additional wear it causes to the clutch and transmission but in general the LESS I use the brakes, the MORE fun I’m having!

The MGM look super sweet. But not worth the drive for me. When did the release the access cab in a mt. Everytime I searched it it always gave me only auto for an option.

I ordered that exact Cement from the factory (Sport DCSB 6MT with premium + tech packages) since they couldn't find one at the time around me and I'm waiting for it still! Too bad it is so far away from me since I'm in MN. Guess I'll just keep waiting, only a month or so to go before delivery.

I ordered it through Walser Toyota in Bloomington. They are a no-haggle place so pretty easy to work with, not too much pressure when you talk to the people there. They also do a lifetime powertrain warranty on all new vehicles, so that is a nice bonus that they stand behind their cars. I got my wife's Corolla S from them about 5 years back and went back when it was time for me to upgrade! I put my order in for my Tacoma in mid-July and it is scheduled to be here in September (mid to late if I remember correctly, but I can always hope).

So for the throwout bearing my options are live with it since the URD sleeve kit is only a temporary fix, and they don't make the other hydro bearing thing anymore? Or I guess I could buy a new trans.

    Mostly stuff I built.

You can buy just the front housing. This is the repair they did on my FJ when the guide tube for the throwout bearing broke off the trans the first time. Second time it happened Toyota replaced the trans. Don’t know about the third as I traded it for an auto trans FJ and put the wife in it and went back to driving my ‘01 Cummins manual trans with the 5th gear nut welde to the out put shaft.

Same here, usually in parking lot/backing into driveway maneuvers. Nice to have a fully synchronized gearbox isn't it?

Driving manuals most of my life. Still unsure if I like the synchronized trannies. The 93 I took them out like it much better.

I heard this story on the radio yesterday too. The reporter on the radio went on to say the manual makes sense as a theft deterrent because less than 20% of people in the US can drive a manual. They also said less than 3% of car sales are for manuals. I am proud to be part of that minority. Long live the manual!
